Keep in mind the greatest things about Season 2 of Discovery were Pike and Spock. Perhaps CBS is finally listening to their fans.

I hope they pitch the tone of this show right. Much as I loved Anson Mount as Pike to begin with, I felt that later on and especially in the Shorts his Pike had become smug. Same for Number One in the Shorts too.

Tone of the shows is important. From what Frakes is saying lately Discovery will have a much more upbeat tone from season 3. I wonder if they've chosen that from fan feedback?

Same could go for ST:SNW too, which is most definitely driven so far by fan demand. (That and the actors being up for it apparently).

I actually can overlook that to a point. Think about it, he saw his future and practically knows up until that point he's pretty much scot-free until then. So in a way I think it's justified, to a point.

I don't think it was a character thing, more an actor and director choice.

From what I remember of the main Short Trek he was in, most of his actions were due to him testing the Cadet to see if she'll break or not and follow her standing order to keep her 'prisoner' contained.

And to answer my question...

Yeah, I think that's one of the things Discovery got right. I even liked the design of the Enterprise, as opposed to the gawds-awful look of the USS Discovery.

But I think you're correct. With Covid, the entertainment industry is in full-on collapse, and giving the fans what they want might be the only way to survive. Ironic, I guess.
