Only the shields were hit, and are still holding at 70%. Not structural damage. I am deferring to Velaul for ship’s status, but I can keep it updated going forward, if that is preferred.

Okay so can I get a bit of clarification right quick, about how far is an AU? I'm good in metric and imperial but AUs are just a bit outside my ability.

Hi all. I'm back from a brief LOA. Work had to take priority for a while there, and I've had to cover extra shifts as well as my own, but things should be settling as new staff begin work in the coming week. I should be back to posting normally from here on, hopefully.  B)

Hello crew!

I've been asked by the CD to step in and take over from GM-19 who has other duties they must take care of elsewhere. I promise I'll be kinder to you than the Charon, mainly because the CD scares me pays my salary.

I've caught up on things, and will be posting shortly!

GM, I have a question RE: clarity--

Of the J'Sharians that got beamed up with us, how many went to the Bridge? I was under the impression that it was just the High Regent, and the rest stayed behind, but now I want to make sure.

Also - how many aliens got beamed up with us? Did Stan with the hot dog cart also get beamed up, since it was a wide-beam spread?

"Keel and his party marvelled open-mouthed at the Philadelphia as they were led through the small ship, the new technologies they had been exposed to utterly alien to them, blowing their minds almost as much as having their physical forms decomposed and recomposed in the blink of an eye." - reads to me like they all came along, not that I believe there were that many of them in the first place.

Stan with the hotdogs, though... I'm not so sure...

Hopefully having a better day than this guy's cabbage cart?

Just a moment of calrification form the GM please

In your post on the bridge (#217) you wrote; "Had this been a nuclear or antimatter warhead, the Philadelphia could have simply swatted it with her weapons or taken the impact on her shields without much issue; an isolytic warhead, was another matter."

And in engineering (#94) you wrote; "Even if the ship began to back away to increase the distance, they would get one attempt before the missile slammed into the Philadelphia, or missed and (most likely) detonate when it no longer tracked its target."

The first reads as the missile striking the shields would have little to no effect providing there's no isolytium, but the second reads or at least gives the feeling that as if even if the neutron beam does work, the impact against the shields or close detonation of the missile would still be bad despite the isolytium being nullified..

So just asking to double check before I make suggestions to the CEO to pass on to the powers that be.

So the way I see weapons working in Trek, is something like modern missiles (not torpedoes). An actual impact from one of those weapons, travelling at anything between two to five times the speed of sound, will do terrific kinetic damage but also trash any detonator and prevent it going off. They are designed to proximity detonate (at a specific range or altitude depending on target); blast and fragmentation being the damage-dealer (some AA missiles use an expanding shrapnel cone that acts like a buzzsaw, it's pretty cool!)

In terms of Trek weapons, a Photon or Quantum Torpedo detonates and does damage by combining Matter and Antimatter in a controlled way to get the most (or least) out of the explosion. If one of them were to hit the shields and require an impact detonator, the detonator would be vaporised on contact and the explosion would be uncontrolled. So they also proximity detonate, probably within a few centimetres of the shields. The missile coming from the planet, on the other hand, will probably also have a proximity detonator but it's also a lot bigger and is carrying a lot more mass.

The physics of it hurts my brain, but if you consider a Quantum Torpedo is about eight feet long. This thing is probably closer to eighty feet, before stage separation if it has it (think ICBM) - that's a lot of kinetic energy. The shields would probably hold, but that kinetic energy is going to have to go somewhere, and we know from the shows that the bigger the bang, the more rocking about in their chairs the crew does.

Does that make sense?

For clarification:

The ship remains in orbit of Jateran while repairs and resupply efforts are conducted. Crew are effectively on leave, with only a skeleton crew required to be on duty at any time (think one shift every other day rather than one per day so only 1/6 of the crew is on duty rather than 1/3). You can't beam down to the planet at this point, but the Holodecks and other recreation areas are available for use. Realistically, it's time to rest and decompress after two and a bit months of redlining the ship and the crew.

I understand it's close by, but it's definitely not in planetary orbit! Or will you tell us when we arrive at Narendra Station? Thanks!

We are still in orbit of Jateran, we haven't departed for Narendra Station yet. We also won't be departing for a while yet, as our next mission (which has pseudo-started already as a continuation of the previous mission) will also be taking place in this area.

If you have subplots for the two weeks between missions you wish to run, please feel free to use the Subplots area. Once I've spoken to the characters I needed to speak to in-game and we've got our replacements aboard, we'll get going!

I apologize for my foul-ups in the "Replacements" thread. Apparently Captain Paul Braggins was never in charge of the Sheridan... and Maggie's thoughts are wrong. Good thing that's just an internal thought! Please feel free to ignore any of mistakes I've made (such as the music not being muted). I wish I could blame "pregnancy brain," but sometimes I think I'm just in such a rush to get words on paper, I definitely remember things wrong. Kinda neat to finally get a chance

Looking forward to posting with the crew.

If I wanted to start posting with the dog's NPC account, how many people here would be in favor, and how many people would find it annoying / unnecessarily distracting? Just trying to get a feel for things, no offense will be taken. :)

Didn't we discuss this via E-Mail? If the GM's opinion differs from mine, they will say so in their post.

On a broader note: The GM doesn't need a tag in CA unless they've missed your post in their round of posts.

As a reminder to everyone else, bc I almost just posted this and messed myself up: the Philly is currently towing the Pe'bIl. The Borqu' is the one speaking for both of them. Was reading the GM post and I hurt myself in the confusion, lol.

Confusion reigns

My post in Transporter room made an assumption that  Artemis was still there mainly because I had not read Sickbay

Apologies for the mistake

Just a quick note....

When the messaging was done, she stood and walked with the Alpha team leader. "Stay on top of things Newton, once you hear about the arrival of the injured, do whatever you feel necessary to be up to date on what is happening in Sickbay.

d'Tor'an and Murik are escorting them from the transporter, but they could require assistance."

The Klingons are and were sent to Sickbay via direct transport. My character left the transporter room the first time everyone reported there, as per my posts on the 5th of this month, when we thought for a split second we were going to transport to the Klingon ships. The people reporting to the transporter room now in order to go to the surface may be a few of the same people that were supposed to go to the Klingon ship(s), but that is a different timeline, albeit only about ten minutes later.

If my NPC's location is going to cause confusion, I'll cease posting with them, as they are not a points-earning character, and it is not a necessity to post with them.

Vacation time is finally here, after a tough month or twenty. Time to enjoy some sun and Nanaimo bars over in Canada. I may be able to check in from time to time, but we'll be out of reach for part of the time as we're doing a road trip north then west to some remote islands. Be good to each other and I'll see you in August!  B)

So just a quick summary of my first few days on the Philly.

That feeling your five-year old self used to get in a toy store? That's pretty much where I'm at the moment. Notwithstanding the signatory NKOTBness resulting in seeing stuff in my security locker that isn't there and starting up a conversation with someone who hasn't been in the room for several months!

Hats off to LCdr Kurasa for some excellent guidance in that regard. Promise I'll try not to stretch the crew's patience to any hitherto-unattained levels (much).

No worries It's part of what I get paid the big bucks for, and it is my pleasure

All of us have had a few moments like that onsite so you are allowed to make those mistakes and obviously you are handling them very well and quite humorously
