We good? Cool.

Again...SPOILERS!!!

Ahem...

I actually enjoy this season. It's by far the best of the worst, but it's still might be too little too late. Kurtzman and his ilk need to go and let Terry Matalas take over the whole thing. But since Klutzman just arbitrated a 160 MILLION dollar deal to end in 2026...

Picard season 3 FEELS like it was actually written by fans for fans instead of being some demented vanity project like the last two seasons were and STD before it. IF Kurtzman steps back and lets Matalas do the work...MAYBE the franchise can be saved.

It's only four episodes in, and I'm hooked. I know it's just fan service, but at this point I don't really care. Is it too little too late, I think so.

There are issues sure, mostly nitpicks I have like

-The lighting. Seriously did they forget it or is it by design? It's not good.

- Beverly and Picard have a son, but they haven't even mentioned Wesley at ALL. Does Wesley KNOW he has a half brother? Does Jack even know about Wesley?

-Raffi...seriously she feels like a throwaway character at this point.

-That whole "super weapon" thing is kinda ridiculous. A PORTAL weapon? And there's something worse than THAT?

Granted, using a portal weapon to basically torture the Titan was kinda funny. GLaDOS would be pissed if she found out someone stole her portal device...lol

Anyway what are y'all thoughts?

I liked how the first season began, with The Borg Reclamation Project, but hated where they took that season. Could not get into season 2 at all so ignored it after two episodes in.

That said, I am willing to give this 3rd season a go once The Last Of Us ends.

Part of the problem is that, from what I've heard, the episodes have been released slightly earlier darker than it's supposed to be. I don't know how true that is, however.

Hard to say. He presumably knows about his namesake, so I think it's possible that Jack knows about Wesley. Whether or not Wesley knows is another story. From last season we know he's still out there being a Traveler and whatnot, so it's possible he could've jumped in and found out. Although, I think there's also a chance we'll get a scene of Wesley this season. I know they're claiming it won't happen, but considering Wil Wheton is actively working with Paramount with the Ready Room after show, it would be hard to believe they also didn't get him for a scene, at minimum, for this final season of Picard.

-Raffi...seriously she feels like a throwaway character at this point.

I'd rather have Rios as one of the remaining Picard original character. However, Raffi is significantly better than she'd been in the other two seasons. The team-up with Worf is seemingly a highlight for me.

-That whole "super weapon" thing is kinda ridiculous. A PORTAL weapon? And there's something worse than THAT?

It's crazy to think the portal weapon tech was just a distraction. The going theory is that Lore and/or Moriarty is supposedly the weapon that was actually stolen.

From what's it's looked like Kurtzman has seemingly been more hands-off with Lower Decks, Strange New Worlds, Prodigy, and this season of Picard. It's been more so the showrunners actually doing things. If Kurtzman wants to sit back and be the cheerleader to try and get more people to watch, and let everyone else do their thing without interference I think everything will be pretty much okay.

Vega:

I didn't see the full spoiler review for the season, but using Moriarty as a weapon is interesting...maybe another distraction? Lore I can understand.

And I haven't seen Prodigy, but yeah, it seems like when Kurtzman steps back is when it's actually good.

Finch:

The Reclamation Project was actually interesting. But it went downhill fast. Like I've said before, Kurtzman has had a few interesting ideas, he just no actual talent. But I digress.

I haven't either, I'm going off on the trailers. We know Lore and Moriarty are in the Season, and Daystrom is the most likely place they'd be held. We also know they're both dangerous. I mean the hologram took over the Enterprise-D for goodness sakes.

Yeah, but Moriarty was trapped in that portable holodeck and Lore was disassembled. Gonna be interesting to see how they pull this off.

Yeah, but Moriarty was trapped in that portable holodeck and Lore was disassembled. Gonna be interesting to see how they pull this off.

Lore's body was still taken to Daystrom. Presumably after the events of Nemesis, they attempted to use the files Data downloaded into B4 and transfer them into Lore. It failed in B4, but Lore was only slightest less primitive than Data so it could've worked. The Data we saw it Season 1 was only sliver of a fragment, so the rest of him is still there.

Moriarty's little holodeck cube was also presumably transferred to Daystrom. The fact that the crew of the Enterprise randomly created a sentient hologram is probably important to them. Plus, we also know from Lower Decks that Daystrom also have an AI prison, of sorts.

My theory, as it stands, is that it was only partially successful and we'll get a Jeckyll/Hyde scenario. Lore is stolen by the Changelings, or whoever the villain turns out to be (the Jack Crusher hallucinations look eeriely like the Season 1 space-tentacle monster thing in it's finale which could also tie in Data/Lore). Moriarty is brought in by our heroes as a way to stop Lore, until Data eventually takes control, since he was created as a foil to Data way back when.

Or if the writers really want to troll us, the big bad turns out to be Badgey and Peanut Hamper, LMAO.

If they pull a Lower Decks on us I'm gonna lose my mind. LOL

That's a good theory.

I've really enjoyed Picard 3 (having not seen the first two seasons at all).

As I said to some friends, the first four episode impressed me as the movie Nemesis should have been. And it's just getting to the halfway mark.

I know they're claiming it won't happen, but considering Wil Wheton is actively working with Paramount with the Ready Room after show, it would be hard to believe they also didn't get him for a scene, at minimum, for this final season of Picard.

The problem is that it's Wheaton saying it, repeatedly.

In an interview, he told a story about attending the Picard 3 premiere at the Chinese Theater. When they asked members of the cast to stand, he intended to remain seated, since he wasn't in the cast of season 3, but Frakes insisted he stand with the rest of them.

OTOH, that story would be a great way to not spoil a surprise appearance. ;)

Part five has a couple of nice gut punches.  I was wondering what they were going to do with that scene from the trailer, of Picard sitting down to dinner at Ten Forward and apparently being interrupted by Starfleet officers.  That scene plays out completely differently in part five, becoming a flashback split into parts, and the last bit of it is the second gut punch. Well done.

I'm really hoping they aren't about to throw species 8472 into the mix. But the thing is, changelings aren't supposed to be that good at violence. That's why they created the jem'hadar.  And the changeling Seven shot didn't show any improvement in that regard. They're still sneak attackers.

Seem to me he's more likely to be a concealed 8472 than a psychotic changeling that's been a solid for however long.

Well, there was a Changeling pot found, so there's that. It could be a red herring too. And the fact that they mimic organs so perfectly they pass medical scans? It very well could be Species 867-5309...damnit.. I meant 8472.

lol

I'm kinda surprised they weren't even at the very least a possibility. Maybe we'll find out next episode.

Tonight I started watching the 3rd season. Decided to just out-right skip the second season since it appears not to matter. I don't care about spoilers for this show.

Are there ANY episodes from the second season I should watch though? Already seems like they are ignoring everything from it.

Finch, not really. If you really need to you can watch reviews on YouTube in stead of subjecting yourself to that torture.
