Dear Abby: Formatting, AIs, Saucer separation, and more.

Each month I will be taking your questions regarding Federation Space RPG procedure and protocols, and getting answers from various Academy personnel and FedSpace admins. No question is too small!

Do you have a question for me? Send it to taylor@fed-space.com.

Why do we use certain formatting on the boards?
The way we write our posts on the boards has been standardized because FedSpace has members from all over the world. By using consistent formatting, it makes it easier for everyone to follow.

How do I become an Academy Instructor?
When the Academy is looking to hire new personnel, a posting will go up in the Red Alert: Recruiting thread. Anyone with the rank of lieutenant junior grade or higher is welcome to apply at that time, with permission of your Commanding Officer. Players who get hired are those who can show consistent participation with their PC, in addition to some degree of ‘going the extra mile’ — that could be having exceptional posts, being a great community member, mentoring other players, etc.

Do our ships have saucer separation capabilities?
Yes, though saucer separation is for emergency purposes, and not conducted routinely. Ships light cruiser-sized and above can perform emergency saucer separation.

Does Star Fleet have an NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) of its own since Star Fleet is a naval organization?
Yes! Ours is called the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and falls under the Security division. We’ve had several subplots and NPCs over the years involving the CID.

How do I get my bio updated?
Contact either your FO or CO with the information you’d like updated.
