Julia had left the bar on the station when the crew had been recalled, and she had been to her quarters just to quickly change into a clean uniform that actually fits her growing midsetion. Troy made to the counselor's office a half hour before her shift began with both of the animals. She knew that she has to be checked out to be on safe side that way she won't have to be on bed rest cause she knew that it will happen the further she got along. Troy hasn't seen the CMO yet since she came back to the ship. She has to check in with the CMO before the ship left and she wasn't sure if she is needed in the briefing yet. All she knows is that if they needed her they can call her over the com badge.

Before Troy could answer a communication came in from the Bridge. [Bridge to Sickbay. Report status of Sickbay in regards to departure preparations.] Excuse me for a moment Julia, I need to answer that. Dr Langston tapped his com badge and said, "Bridge, Dr Langston Depute CMO here, Dr Lim the CMO is in a mission briefing with the senior staff, at the moment. Sickbay is good to go." "Now, Julia, how are you today? Anything I can do to help?" ==Tag Dr Julia Troy==

Julia was just sitting in the counselor's office when she heard the DCMO spoke to her. Troy hadn't known anyone else came into sickbay early like her to get some things done.
"I'm doing good, tired some days and wide awake other days. I want to make sure that these three are progressing normally, and I know that multiple births can happen early. Plus I would like to know the genders of them so I'm prepared for their arrival. Also I want to make sure that I don't go on bed rest to early and if that does happen I want to be here in sickbay during that time. Oh before I forgot keep Reddington away from so I won't be stressing out." Troy knew that stress wasn't good for her or the triplets before they are to arrive. The stress would send Julia onto bed rest or the triplets to come early. She wants to keep them in as long as possible till the due date. ==Tags DCMO==

He retrieved a medical Tricorder and took a scan of her beginning to bulge tummy. The results came onto the tricorder screen and he handed the tricorder to Dr Troy so she could read the sex of each child herself. "So what’s wrong with Nurse Reddington?" Harry asked inquisitively. == tag Dr Troy == == Sorry for the delay in replying. The sex of your babies is up to you - your character your babies - not for me to choose for you. ==

Dr Lois Lim was in the CMO's office, catching up on medical records after the senior staff meeting in the observation lounge, when a communication from Earth came in for her. It was an old friend and colleague and one time boy friend from Star Fleet Academy
"Lois its so good to see you again, how are you?" Dr Gilchrist asked. "Henry I'm well and you, are you well, long time no see?" Lois replied with an unusually joyous smile and some flirting with her eyes. They spoke of old times together as young doctors in their academy days for some minutes until Henry Gilchrist came to the reason for his out of the blue call. "Lois, I have a position for a medical lecturer at the Academy. Your the first and only one I could think of that would be perfect for the job. Will you come back, to Earth and the Academy, please?" Lois was shocked, overwhelm even, and for a few second could speak. "I can't do that Henry, we are just stating a mission, it's very ackward timing, Henry." "Will you at least think it over, it would be perfect for you and you, I know, would be perfect for the position. AND you know we have unfinished er... we have an unfinished relationship. You promised me that you would one day return to marry me, do you remember? Lois blushed and in her usual surly voice snaped back, "That is emotional blackmail Henry and you know it." She pause a moment of thought and in a softer tone said. "But its true. Very well I will contact you tomorrow with my final answer. Let me sleep on it." ==The Following Day, after a sleepless night, late in the evening == In her quarters Lois put a call through to Dr Henry Gilchrist at his home in San Fransico. "Henry, Lois Lim!" 'Yes, Lios," Henry immediately replied, "I've been expecting your call. I hope your answer is good news." "Henry, I didn't think you would wait all this time. We didn't part on good term, remember. " Lois said, I wanted a career first to show up my father! . "Yes, Lois, I remember and I have not stopped thinking about you since. But its not for that reason i'm asking you... er well it is for that reason, as well as, you are the best person for the job. Please say yes. "Yes, Henry, I accept your offer and for any thing else that may or may come about. It will take me more that week to get back to earth, I've missed you Henry. It was because of my stubbeness that I left, and I was a little scared but I will coming back. ." The next day she made an appointment to meet with Captain Brooks and advise him of the offer and of his decision to leave, to take up the training post at the Academy and that a formal notice of transfer was on the way.

When Julia was shown the results on the tricorder, she saw that they were two girls and a boy. Troy was hoping for either two boys and a girl or two two girls and a boy and it was the latter. She couldn't be more happier than in that moment.
"With Reddington, he was trying to change how I was running the sickbay which was starting to cause stress. The sickbay was running smoothly during the last mission and I needed one person brought back which he thought was a priority at the time. I knew that all of the away team needed to be cleared to go back to duty and Reddington wasn't going by what I was trying to do till you came in. I just don't need the stress from him cause the stress could cause these three to come early. On another note there is two girls and a boy which is a perfect trio that will be raised." Troy knew that if wanted to be blunt she will be blunt about anything, especially when it comes to family. Julia knew that she still needed to talk to a couple of people when she got a chance to. ==Tag DCMO/CMO==

Aanil had just left a meeting with Captain Brooks and Commander Lim and despite her experience and confidence in her knowledge and abilities; the subject of the meeting had shaken her.
Commander Lim had been reassigned, and as the senior Medical officer aboard the position of CMO had fallen to her. She did attempt to make a case for other options with them both but they were adamant; and as of 14:40 hours Lieutenant Commander Aanil O'Shea was now the Acting Chief Medical officer. Lois had not been able to stick around to make the announcement and Aanil had just done so at the time of the shift change. Harry Langston was terrific about it, and gave her a sincere congratulations. She turned to the team. "I did not seek this position and it is as an Acting role that I have accepted it for the duration of the mission, and I thank you for all of your support. Lieutenant Langston will pass on the news to the alterday shift, but we will honor Dr Lim's service by maintaining the standards of care that she had maintained; thank you all again; dismissed." Crossing the deck, she entered the CMO's office and reluctantly sat where her friend had so recently been. " Time to get to work I guess." She said to no one in particular ==Tags==

There wasn't much that he could do at this moment, no casualties to tend to and the place was clean. There was something else that Red felt the need to handle, and this time it was more than a little more pleasant. He had with him a beverage, Chocolate milk high in calcium and a box of chocolates. As he approached Julia, Red had a pleasing smile. "I came bearing a gift. In my left hand I have Chocolate milk, and the right a box of chocolates. Both of these items are high in calcium to help replace what you are losing, I have also taken the liberty of programing other high calcium items in the replicator, they can help the over all health of all four of you." As a Doctor she would know that one baby requires a lot of calcium, not only for healthy bones and teeth, but to have a healthy heart as well. it also helps with the prevention of preeclampsia and hypertension. The big thing that he wanted to accomplish was to make it easier, the other part was to make it taste good. ==Tag==

After being assigned the temporary role of Acting CMO, Aanil then spent the better part of the following 6 hours going over the medical records, of the crew, sorting through required staffing protocols and supply necessities. She had not even realized; being so deeply immersed in the one task she abhorred more than any; that being writing reports; that anyone was actually active outside the office door. until she overhead Red talking to someone in the main bay.
As she rose from the chair and proceeded out she heard the familiar voice of Red, the senior ship's medic speaking with someone and the two people present would see the diminutive red haired Acting CMO, stretching as she exited the office addressing the two people present in her thick Irish brogue. "Well good afternoon to the both of ye, and how is our little momma to be doing today?" As was a normal and practiced part of her reaction; Aanil brought out her tricorder and did a scan of the Counsellor . Everything seemed to be going as it should be and she put the Tricorder away and offered a warm smile. "Everything is looking very well Julia, at least for you. The Captain has seen fit to appoint me as a one mission Acting Chief, an fer the life O'me I canna imagine how Lois ever endured it. The administrative duties are clearly not a fit task for an Irishwoman, and so I just surrendered myself to my Vulcan mindset and I appear to have come through unscathed. I see Red is taking good care of you Julia and I assume that you are getting sufficient rest?" ==Tags==

When Julia was about to get off the bed and head back to the counselors office when Raymond approached her. She noticed that he had something with him and she didn't know what he was up to till he spoke.
"Thank you Red, I appreciate the offer and the gesture. I hope that we can make peace and start over from the last mission." Julia didn't hear the new ACMO come out and approach them while they were talking. When she started speaking Troy turned to her and listened what she was saying. She knew that she had to say something to her before she had to go to counselors office. "Aanil, I'm doing well as expected while carrying three precious little ones. Oh congratulations on being the ACMO and I know that you will do really well in the position. As for the rest I am getting plenty of it, and being in the counselors office I have a place to sit at the desk and a couch to lay down on if I need to for a nap here or there. Having both Spike and Dot there with Surik not to far away and if something happens Spike and Dot knows what to do. Both animals helps me out with those who don't want to open up to anyone else." ==Tags==

He was pleased to see that things could be repaired, he was going to be on his best behavior from now on. There was one thing that he couldn't help but be wonder about, and that was about her ability. He had heard somewhere it was possible that it would enhance her ability, but had nothing for sure. After being asked about her abilities during her first pregnancy, Julia had thought back when her mom was expecting her younger sister. She couldn't remember much about it except that during the rest of it Troy spent it with her other family members. Julia wished that her mother was around to help her through her first time.
"I'm not to sure, and all I know was that when my mother was carrying my younger sister her abilities was slowly increasing. When my mother was further along with my sister I went to stay with some of my other relatives cause her abilities would have doubled if not tripled, and my abilities was already turned on from birth. With this being my first time my mother isn't here to help me through it." Troy hopes that her abilities doesn't increase to badly with the triplets she is carrying. ==Tags==

He has been struck in the torso by some form of weapon and without immediate Medical care he will perish, Beam him directly to Sickbay; we have no time to lose; Engage transport now!] The signal ended. It was customary when an away mission was on planet for a full medical team to be present and ready should and emergency occur.
Aanil had been going through the resources immediately available should such an incident happen and just as she was about to turn to the senior Nurse they all heard the Emergency message. Aanil knew that she didn't need to tell anyone present what to do and noted, with pride that all present immediately masked up and put on surgical gowns and gloves. And as trained each team member gathered the necessary equipment and then standing back the required distance from the table, they would be ready for when the body arrived, but noted with pride as all present were calm focused and prepared. ==Tag GM Do we get a body and what do we see/detect?==

As the glow of the transporter beam dissipated, the form of the ambassador appeared on the surgical bed. Various terminals sprung to life, showing readouts of the ambassador’s vitals. A cacophony of alarms sounded at once, shattering the peaceful atmosphere of sick bay. The medical team was able to determine the following facts immediately:
05-25-2025, 12:08 AM
As part of initial transport the biobed is prepped with incoming patient's precise stats
The clothing removed, by transporter and the body laid face down on a pre-prepped surgical bed and encompassed in a medical stasis field to maintain all bodily functions for the time being. The primary actions were taken to ensure assisted life support for the patient to enable the medical team time to assess which trauma to deal with first as the life support provided by the Biobed was maintaining the body’s other critical systems. The Chief Surgical Nurse approached the bed first.... ==Tag Lieutenant Tina Trask ,Chief Surgical nurse==

The tension was high as alarms were silenced and everyone began taking their positions. They trained constantly for moments like these, but you always hated when they actually happened. Just like every time before, the adrenaline kicks in and then you take a deep breath and focus. All instruments were meticulously placed in their exact locations and prepared for use. Everyone and everything ready for the delicate yet chaotic dance that they hoped would keep people alive. Tina went through her mental checklist, looking to every station and making certain everyone was on their mark and ready. When Lt O'Shea approached her position, Tina quipped to her diminutive surgeon, "Are you sure you're going to be able to see okay? I can give you a boost if you like." They had worked together before, so it was easy to fall into a familiar routine together again. Then, the patient appeared on the bed, still in the temporary statsis. They didn't have long, as such a stasis field was hard to maintain, but it gave them a few critical seconds to try and figure out what they were dealing with and perhaps for a plan of action. The data streaming past on her monitor was unusual. It took her only a second to register that the patient had implants. It was unusual, but she was well versed in basic cybernetics. Tina wasn't very familiar with the field, but as a Trill, her joined symbiont was. Trask had always gravitated to the Medical field. This time it was in Star Fleet. It had allowed an interesting accumulation of experiences so far and this time it was paying off a little. Mostly the use of cybernetics was for prosthetics, but these implants were different. That's when she saw on her screen that there was highlighted information the ship listed a Cybernetics research expert on staff and available for consult. She couldn't believe it at first, then pressed the key to initiate a consult. How did she not know such a person was on staff? Immediately there was another transport signal in the room, but it was to the side. Tina recognised the face and was stunned at first, saying to herself, "You?" Her mental stumble lasted only a second though, as she looked to O'Shea, "We're ready."
05-25-2025, 12:53 PM
Captain Brooks voice came over the Sickbay comms,
[Bridge to Sickbay, give me a status report of the Ambassador, once you have assessed him. Brooks out.] The Captain closed the channel to let the medics get to work.
05-25-2025, 04:05 PM
"We're ready was the signal O'Shea was waiting for.
While approaching the surgical suite O’Shea noted the Caitian Ensign, Korin Sudea overseeing the patient’s life support; who then nodded affirmatively to the CMO. It allowed Aanil to relax knowing that aspect of what was about to happen was in good hands. The hand off from Lt Trask was humorous as always and inappropriate in just the right way to assist the surgeon in focusing on what she needed to do next. Not that O’Shea had any issues with the procedures they were about to undertake, but it always helped if she knew that the team surrounding her was top notch, and this group was. Aanil took note as she climbed onto the step up; that allowed her to interface with the standard height of a surgical table; TT’s usual humor which was part of the well-oiled teamwork the two had built over years of serving together and she then felt the normal comforting symmetry of her team closing in and around her and their patient. The level of trauma was severe and as such; replacement organs were being readied in the event that her team could not repair what had been damaged; but that was not the CMO’s initial priority. “Life support ready Doctor, all the patient’s critical systems, under full support; awaiting orders. Right on time, Korin; she mused, and as was her normal habit she looked across the table to the second surgeon of the team for a summary of the tasks ahead. Aanil paused only for a moment and allowed her eyebrows to raise as she recognized Cdr Talion’s cybernetic expert standing just off to the side. She then winked at Tina before addressing the second surgeon present; “Tell us what we have here Lieutenant Shavokh? ==Tag Assisting Surgeon==

The team was in place and there was no time to waste. The dark hair of the Vulcan surgeon was pulled back and secured under a surgical cap in perfect regulation manner as she began her quick briefing. "We have a male human with a typical battlefield injury that presents as a direct hit from a plasma bolt from behind. Scans indicate minute residual metal fragments from the projectile, but they are not of immediate concern. External soft tissue was cauterized on entry with penetration diminishing to terminal point at lower chambers of the heart. There is a large portion of the 5th rib that appears to have been vaporized and the exact extent of the damage to the heart is yet to be determined. Life support is in place and we'll need to isolate the heart from the circulatory system with bypass and artificial assistance while repairs are attempted and work our way out from there. Unfortunately, a primary concern is the brain functions. For that, we have a cybernetic consultant on hand." With a nod to Cindy, she stepped closer and picked up where the Vulcan had left off, "Unidentified medical implants are the current source of highly irregular brain activity. For security purposes, the frequencies it is operating on have been isolated and I've set up a limited isolation field to filter and contain those frequencies. We don't know what those implants are trying to do yet. I'm attempting to establish if they are trying to help our patient or if they need to be neutralized. His brain functions are my priority. If we can't salvage his consciousness, then the rest is for nothing. I'll let you know as soon as I finish my analysis of their programming structure." Lt Trask then reported, "Everyone stand by. We're dropping the stasis in 3...2...1..mark." == Tag Surgical Team == == GM Input request: What (if anything) can be determined about the medical implants? Are they attempting to help him? Are they malfunctioning? Is it possible to disable them safely so they might be repaired? If the patient is intended to die, we 're prepared for our efforts to fail, but it won't be for lack of trying. Cindy is a synthetic chassis, housing a unique program, linked to encrypted networks. She has assisted Talion in his research for roughly the past 20 years, including the writing of software and evaluating experimental cybernetic systems for use with humans, specializing in prosthesis and artificial organ replacements for those that are unable to have their own regrown or transplanted. Artificial organs can be replicated easily and she has the designs available, if needed. Thanks. ==
05-26-2025, 03:45 AM
The patient’s heart was punctured beyond repair, but the surrounding structures appeared to be sufficiently intact to support a transplant of an artificial organ.
Cindy’s analysis of the cranial implant was revealing. The device was connected to the patient’s hippocampus and appeared to be involved with memory retention. Cindy surmised that the implant would give the recipient near-perfect recall and could hold years of continuous data. Information was stored using a form of encryption that could only be read using the owner’s unique neural signature. Notwithstanding one’s opinion on such implants, the technology would impress even the foremost cybernetic experts in the Federation. The implant itself was functional, but its connection to the brain had been disrupted, likely as a deliberate side effect caused by electrical interference from the plasma bolt. Unfortunately, the patient’s ability to create and store memories was tied to the implant. Removal in this state would cause significant brain damage, but temporary shutdown was possible while the patient remained unconscious. Virtually all Federation doctors would hesitate to operate on such a sophisticated piece of hardware. Without access to Riani medical text or time to study, the Aquila team would be going in largely blind.

== Thanks to GM Input... == Fortunately, it took very little time for Cindy to determine what she needed to know about the installed devices. The team had barely started when she reported her findings. "The good news is that the devices aren't causing any issues related to our treatment. Please take care not to damage the devices, as they seem linked to memory recall and leaving them connected doesn't pose any dangers, while removing them could prove catastrophic. The life support functions of the bed should serve to help stabilize the patient, but I would not use it to revive the patient, as the stimulation could cause a surge in the connection. We should be able to resynchronize the signals once we're able to ready to return him to consciousness. There is even a chance it might reset on it's own, once the effects from the energy surge of the plasma weapon diffuse more." Looking over the scans, she offered, "Given the extent of damage, I am going to recommend the implant of an artificial heart at this time. It will at least give time for him to heal from the other injuries and allow a conversation about other options. I'll begin replicating one now. It should only take a few minutes. It is the latest version approved for use in human subjects by the Federation. Implantation should be pretty standard, but I can answer any questions you might have about the procedure." == Tag to all == == GM, please correct me if I got any of that wrong... ==

Aanil's initial reaction was anger and indignation at this cybernetic civilian was standing near her operating theater and telling HER how to proceed with a patient. Looking up she met the cool, calm gaze of her friend across the table which suggested she 'cool it'.
Taking a long breath she paused and addressed Lt Trask. "So what do you think of this idea. I am aware synthetic replacement organs are viable, do you have reason to trust this individual's opinion?" And then turning to directly address this "Cindy" she drew in a long breath and asked "So both of you agree with this treatment option?" ==Tag Trask and Cindy==

I knew Commander Talion was assigned to the ship, but didn't realize...um...in any case...yes, I trust her recommendations on this." == NRC Lt Shavokh, Vulcan Surgeon == Shavokh spoke in her normal calm and level tone, "The credentials of the young lady aside, we have a patient in front of us. The heart is no longer viable, this is without question. Our options are to attempt to keep him on external life support while we heal him and consider options, or we place the life support equipment inside him and continue considering options. The implant version will be better for the patient, has a better survival rate and will return him to duty more quickly with less recovery time. It is an approved method by the Federation and Star Fleet. Unless someone has a better suggestion, I say we proceed before the patient expires while we debate the matter. Does the team concur?" == NRC Cindy Talion, Synthetic == Cindy looked as if she might speak, but then appeared to reconsider. She had indeed been a surgical assistant on more than one ship. Her experience with Star Fleet was as long as Alex's and her experience in assisting him in his research went back more than 20 years. She had enough experience in dealing with ship crews that it was sometimes better to not speak. Her interactions over the years had taught her a great deal about people. In fact, it had taught her so much that she no longer had access to some of those engrams. She knew why as well, but that was not something to be dealt with in this situation. She had been called in to offer advice on a technical matter and she needed to take care not to overstep in that official capacity. She was only there to advise and assist, the decisions were in their hands. == Tag == |
