HD05 - Medical Cadet Amethyst Bremner
#1
== Welcome to your holodeck Cadet Bremner,

Read the following information carefully, because it has a fair amount of important information for you.  If you have any questions or difficulties at any time, please contact one of the following people for assistance.  We’d be glad to help you out.

Commander Jasal
Commander Shanth
Captain Allen

Remember during your time at Academy people have responsibilities such as school, jobs, and family, as well as maintaining our site. There are times when we may have to wait longer than we’d like for a reply to a post or a question. Patience and treating each other with respect and dignity are two things that are absolutely required of all members.

On the flip side, the Constitution states that players need to post at least twice a week.  If you find you are unable to keep up due to something coming up in real life responsibilities or you’re just going to be on holiday, please let one of the Admins know.  You can be granted a leave of absence for the length of time you think you’ll be away.  If you don’t let us know and you suddenly disappear, this could end up with you being considered AWOL and eventually removed from the active cadet roster.

Now… with all of that said, let’s get to your character’s bio!

Please begin by posting your bio using the template below. Once posted, your bio will be reviewed by an Evaluations representative. They will post comments for you and suggest any adjustments your bio might require.  Once they approve your bio, you will be assigned an instructor and your adventure will begin!

Federation Space is a written RPG. With that said, we ask that you try to pay attention to spelling and grammar in your posts.  Posts properly formatted are easier and more enjoyable for everyone to read. I strongly recommend you run your bio and any posts you make through a spell check before posting them.

Next are a few resources that can help you as you write your bio:

Be sure to check out playable races

Our character development page is a great resource to help you fill out your bio form.

Along with character development is information about the Star Fleet Academy Curriculum, including Majors and Minors.

One last thing, please take time to read and understand our site’s canon page. This will help you understand what 'Trek' related information is included on our site.

Again, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!  And as always - have fun!

== Questions ==
Most Painful Experience: Amethyst's most painful experience is when her parents came to her and Ian at Starfleet Academy second year and told them that their grandfather passed from a heart attack in his sleep, and then six months later her grandmother passed in her sleep from natural causes. She thinks if she was there her grandmother wouldn't have passed from a broken heart.
Best Time: Her best memories are gardening with her Earth Grandmother.
Most Crucial Experience: A crucial point for her was when Jack Wallace asked her to their final winter formal, and stood her up, as she asked as a joke. That night her brother, his date (a human girl), and her grandparents stayed home and played board games with her. The next Monday at school, Ian sabotaged Jack's warp engine experiment so it would cause a minor explosion. She knew then what a true family and friendship was.
Role Model: Dr. Maggie Eloise Bremner (her grandmother)

==Good afternoon, I am Commander Carrs and I will be assisting you with the first stage of the Academy process; the development of your character bio.

So far it's a good start, however your Personal History is incredibly short. As we want to get a rich idea of who your character is, we generally look for 3 to 4 good-length paragraphs in this part of the bio. A good rule of thumb in your case would be a paragraph each dedicated to early life, adolescence, and Academy experience.

Please expand upon your character's history, and we can continue.==

Personal History: After being born on Betazed, Amethyst lived there for 8 years for primary school with an emphasis on health and then helped her mom in clinics while dad was still on a Starfleet ship as Cheif Medical Officer. Amethyst and Ian loved working to better people's health. So they designed and opened a health clinic for children. They noticed that their telepathic powers were limited to family only, helping further their being different with Betazoid children. They begged their parents to let them move to Earth, thinking things would be easier.

At 8 years old, Ian and she went to live with their country doctor grand parents (Dr. Owen Wick Bremner and Dr. Maggie Eloise Bremner) on Earth (Wick, Scotland). There she did secondary education and helped her grandparents at night doing house calls. Being on Earth she discovered that she felt other's emotions, and still felt fear from Earth peers. So, she decided to start gardening with her grandmother. She loved that plants didn't have prejudices.

Then at 17, she was admitted to the Starfleet Medical Program, where she excelled. She spent most time studying and her bunk mate was her twin. Most people who would visit their quarters would comment on how quiet their room was, yet she thought of it as noisy. Living with her twin, and being socially awkward,  she forgot often that people didn't communicate they way Ian and she did. Amethyst was always found in the holodecks in the Medical Campus or in the library studying. This grew even more dominate when she found out about the passing of her Earth grandparents. She was glad that Ian was there with her as she never felt alone when he was around. In fact, when he spoke to her out loud, it still startles her as it is like a constant echo.

== Hello Cadet Bremner! Congratulations on your approved bio! Fed Space is a great game and community and I’m glad to have you join us.  I’ll be your Academy Instructor, helping you get ready for your time on ship. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask me here or email me

Before we move onto the first lesson, I want to make sure you know about the great resource our wiki provides. It has a lot of information, including what your department duties will be. Take some time to review.

The wiki also includes an Academy section that contains a lot of resources for you. Be sure to take some time to review them, especially the New Cadet FAQ while you’re there. We’ll use the wiki later in our lessons, so it’s helpful for you to start navigating it now.

With that out of the way, let’s get started: Lesson one: Formatting basics

Third Person, Past Tense:
Fed Space has players all over the world, so we use a standardized set of formatting rules. By using one style, it makes it easier for everyone to follow and understand each other’s posts.

The first thing to know is that we post in third person, past tense.  An example of this style of writing would be:
‘Samantha was so excited to be finally taking her final examination, she fell off her seat.’
NOT: I fell off my seat because I was so excited to take my final examination.

We also use double spacing between paragraphs and character’s spoken lines. This means when you write a spoken line with quotation marks “ ”, leave a space after. This makes it easier for players to follow.  A good rule to follow is ‘When in doubt, double space!’

Your Character’s Internal Thoughts
To show your character’s own thoughts, we use italics.  When writing your character’s thoughts, it’s acceptable to write in first person.  An example of showing my character’s thoughts would look like:
I can’t wait for another cup of chai. Maybe a dirty chai?

Showing Emphasis
To make something really stand out in your post, such as if your character was shouting, we use bold text. An example of showing emphasis for my character would look like:
Maddie loved a good cup of chai, especially with a bit of vanilla.

Telepathic Communication
In general, it is rare for a character to have the ability to communicate telepathically and because of this, it is closely monitored by our Senior and Commanding Officers to make sure it isn’t abused.  With that said, there are a few telepathic races on Fed Space and on occasion, telepaths will speak to each other through this unique skill. We use this symbol ~ to show telepathic communication and it would look like this in writing.
~ Hello, I am speaking directly into your mind. ~

Using Communication Badges (Comm Badges)
Characters can often receive verbal communications through a communication device, such as a comm badge, from another crew member or the computer.  When receiving a message, you should drop the quotations “ ” and instead use brackets [ ].

For example, if I received a message from another officer, it would look something like this:
[Commander Shanth to Captain Allen, we are out of chai.]

If you are the one speaking to somebody through a comm device, you would still use the quotations “ ”.

Out Of Character posting (OOC):
Out of Character (OOC) posting is what I’m doing now. OOC text is surrounded by two equal signs on the front and back of a post ==  ==.   Use OOC when you want to talk to another player and not write it as part of the storyline.  Using this technique is not needed in general discussion areas such as your ship’s sections for Crew Announcements or Hailing Frequencies.

Proofing Posts:
When writing a post, it’s important to take time to run your posts through the spell check many writing software offers. Be careful, spell check doesn’t find all grammar and spelling errors. It will find many and help correct errors found though. Taking time to reread your post can also help catch errors. We don’t expect anyone to be a speller or grammar whiz, but taking the time to do this extra step will make it easier for everyone to understand what’s written.

A good way to get the feel of these formatting rules and to get a feel of the site in general is to browse the different ships. Take time to notice how players use the elements mentioned above.

With all that said, let’s get to some posting!  Your first assignment is to respond to my post using the above formatting elements. If you have any questions, ask.  Good luck and have fun! ==

Maddie entered an empty yet pristine holodeck waiting for the next cadet to arrive for their final exam. She carried a cup with her (rarely was she without) to the console to preprogram the cadet’s simulation.

Medical cadet. It’s been too long since I’ve done this.

She scanned through the numerous simulations she had created, finally deciding on one titled AllenMedical0739.

Yes, that should do nicely.

As she neared the end of preparing, she sent a quick communication to the cadet.

“Captain Allen to Cadet Bremner, please report to holodeck five for final testing.”

She took a sip from her cup and then reviewed the simulation waiting.

Amethyst sat in the holodeck waiting area going over medical terminology in her head. She wondered what medical mystery awaited her in the simulation.

She heard Captain Allen summon her to Holodeck 5. She stood. Tied up her hair with a blue ribbon her brother gave her, and walked to the holodeck. Walking in she saw the captain at the control consol with a cup in her hand. She stood there for a second marveling at the scene before her and the achievement of her making it this far, a dream come true.

Here goes, she thought. Clearing her throat she announced her arrival, "Cadet Bremner reporting for examination."

This time she wasn't as nervous as at the desk in the auditorium, however she stood at attention, waiting for the captain to acknowledge her.

== Great job Cadet Bremner! I enjoyed reading your post, what she was doing, and how she was feeling. Thanks for using the different formatting techniques, too! Let’s move on to Lesson two: Plots, GM Input, Character Hijacking, and Finding new posts on the site:

We have two types of plots on Fed Space: the main plot and subplots.
Main plots affect the entire ship and are directed by a Game Moderator (GM).
Subplots are an underlying story that’s being told within the main plot.  A subplot can be run by any player who has received approval by the ship’s CO (or FO).

An example of the difference between the two:  The main plot is about the ship falling under attack, whereas a subplot would be a character dealing with an on-ship pregnancy or maybe trying to write the next great holonovel.

GMs:
Game Moderators (GMs) guide the ships’ missions along. Every ship has a mission, of which only the GMs of a ship know the mission details.

Your job is to write what your character sees and what their reaction is. The GM will provide any unknowns about the main plot.  This input will have significance to the direction of the mission. This is why characters should keep posts open-ended on anything that might affect the mission’s direction or outcome.   As your character performs an action, such as performing a diagnostic scan, just leave the result of the scan unknown.  The GM will explain what the outcome of the action is.

When you need GM input on something, for example the results of a diagnostic scan, just make a request at the end of your post using OOC.  The request should look like:

== GM Input, please. ==

Or it can also be a more specific request, such as:

== GM Input:  Result of the diagnostic, please. ==

As I’ve mentioned, we have a lot happening on all the ships. Look around at the ships to see how characters ask and what they ask for from the GM.

Character Hijacking:
The next element we’re going to cover is character usage. Unless you have permission from the player, you cannot post any speech, thoughts or movements for another character (PRC or NRC) that isn’t yours, unless the character has already done so in game. This is called character hijacking and is not permitted on Fed Space. Some players might not mind, but even minor things such as a nod of the head or a shrug of the shoulders can be considered hijacking.

For example, if you wrote in your next post that Captain Allen suddenly appeared and started dancing the Hokey Pokey, you would have hijacked my character.
Character Movement on Ships:
I’m sure you have noticed a ship has multiple threads on it for the various locations a player can post, such as the bridge, sickbay, and security offices.  Players will travel throughout the ship to accomplish their orders. To help follow the plot when a player is moving from one thread to another they will make notation at the end their post like this:   >> Sickbay >>   The arrows and location found at the bottom of a post tells readers where this character will post next.

When the player makes their next post, the player should make a notation at the beginning of their post like this:   << Bridge <<     The arrows and location found at the top of a post indicate that is where a player has just come from.

Finding New Posts:
I would like to mention the ‘view new posts’ feature on the right of our forum page.  This tab is a quick and handy way to see the new posts since your previous visit to the forums.

Time for more writing!  In your next post, continue showing your use of our formatting techniques you learned in lesson one and ask for GM input. I will be acting as your GM.

If you need any help or would like more clarification on something, ask me! ==

Maddie smiled as the cadet reported to her.  “Welcome to your final examination Cadet Bremner…and... at ease. In a few moments I will begin your exam scenario. I’ll be observing your responses outside of the simulation.”

Maddie paused for a moment, letting the cadet gather herself, take a breath or whatever she might need to do to get ready. Then Maddie spoke again. “Computer, begin Allen medical zero seven three nine.”

The holodeck hummed as it quickly changed from an empty cold room to the Sickbay on the USS MacKenzie. Things appeared like it should appear in a sickbay until the doors whooshed open to reveal an extremely pale and sickly-looking ensign wearing the colors of the Tactical department. He was being helped into Sickbay by two other Tactical ensigns.

Amethyst relaxed her stance when she heard the at ease order from the captain. One last deep breath, and she witnessed the empty holodeck transform into a Starfleet ship's sickbay. Looking around, she took note of where important things were located.

Just as she started to walk around and explore the new sickbay before her, she heard the whoosh of the main doors open. Immediately she turned and saw three tactical ensigns entering, the one in the middle looked pale and was being supported by the other two.

Seeing this she ordered the two ensigns to carefully help their comrade onto the closest examination bed. She grabbed her medical tricorder off her hip and scanned the sick or injured ensign from head to toe.

"What happened to Ensign.....?", she demanded hoping they would supply the name of the ensign so she could access his medical history.

== Great post cadet. You didn’t waste time jumping into action! Let’s continue on to Lesson three: NRCs, character usage, and the Fed Space wiki.

Non-rated characters (NRCs) are characters used by players as well as GMs to help fill crew gaps in ships. Ships would have large crews and since we don’t have enough players to fill all the roles, we use different types of NRC players: Independent and Temporary.

Independent NRCs are like Player Rated Characters (PRC) in that they get played as their own character. NRCs are registered, and you can distinguish them through their character names. You’ll see something along the lines of Ensign Jane Doe {Allen}, with the PRC character’s last name in brackets at the end. NRCs are not like PRCs or second rated characters (SRC). They don’t earn points or medals as you would with your PRC. Also, your PRC must be Lt [JG] or higher and have the approval of your Commanding Officer to create an Independent NRC.

Temporary NRCs on the other hand, can be created by anyone. They are not as developed as Independent NRCs or PRCs and they don’t have bios. They’re usually created for quick tasks and used for times when you need to post with other players on the ship.

To make a Temporary NRC post, all you need to do is place an OOC notation at the top of the post. You may see several variations, but they typically look like:

== Ensign John Doe, Temp Engineering NRC ==

In the case of both types of NRCs, you play the character from the NRCs perspective, almost as if you have a second character.  You can only play an NRC that is one rank higher than your own. This means that if you’re an Ensign, you can have NRCs that are Midshipmen, Ensigns, or Lieutenant Junior Grades.

Navigating the Fed Space Wiki
The Fed Space wiki offers a great resource to help you out with your posts.  Be sure to spend some time checking it out.  The information on the wiki is also ‘Fed Space canon,’ which can sometimes differ from Star Trek canon, so look there first when you’re researching something.  Don’t feel limited to only looking at the wiki pages for your department, because the other departments will have information that can be useful, too.

As previously mentioned, Fed Space canon differs slightly from that of Star Trek, mainly because this game happens 40+ years after the Dominion War. Since the Dominion War, there have been many conflicts and wars. It’s been very rocky, but all the history from the start of Year 1 to the last entry on that page have been written and played out on Fed Space. Make sure you spend some time checking out our site history.

To help you get used to the organization of our wiki, please answer the following questions in OOC.

1. What is peridaxon?
2. What is an osteogenic stimulator used for?
3. How many classes of probes are there?

After answering the questions, continue with another post. In your next post, please continue to use the formatting taught earlier, ask for GM input, and use a Temporary NRC in your post with one of the characters in the story. I also added a bit more to the story for you as well. Oh yea, one last thing, have fun! ==

== GM Input: Tricorder readings show a low body temperature of 93 degrees, slower than normal breathing rate ==

“Hi there,” the effected ensign slurred out. “What’s… shak…”

His buddy quickly answered Amthyst’s question, “Mark Hawkins, doc.”

He was much too weak to get on the biobed himself and relied on his buddies to help him on the table. As they were helping him up, a nurse swooped in.

“Nurse Houlihan here to help,” she said in a soft calm manner.

As the nurse helped with getting the ensign comfortable on the biobed, one of the ensigns turned to Amethyst.

“Doc… Fred and I…  We don’t know what happened? We were just…”

He paused a moment and looked at the other officer who helped bring Dean here.

“We were all in the shuttle bay working… then Mark gets all woozy-like…”

He looked at Fred standing over Mark and appeared to wink at him, but before anymore could be said, Mark started to shake violently.

== back to you Cadet! Smile ==

==Thanks captain.
1. Peridaxon is a drug that treats the symptoms of Irumodic Syndrom, as there is no cure.

2.An osteogenic stimulator used in the repair of fractured or broken bones. Can be used in the field to heal fractures only, as broken bones need to be repaired in a fully stocked sickbay.

3. There are nine classes of probes currently in use by Starfleet.==

As the ensign's friends helped him onto the biobed, Amethyst rolled a medical cart overto the bed. "Hi, Mark. I'm Dr. Bremner. I am here to help," She announced. "Nurse Houlihan, please go get a thermal blanket to get his body temperature back up."

==Nurse Houlihan, temporary medical NRC==

"Yes, doctor," she responded. She walked quickly to the supply closet, and retrieved a thermal blanket. When she returned, the ensign was convulsing on the bio bed.

==Amethyst Bremner==

As she listened to the ensigns stammer out a partial story, she noticed a glance shared to quiet the ensign speaking. Just then Mark began to convulse on the bio bed. As if second nature, Amethyst grabbed the physiostimulator and applied it to regulate Mark's nervous system.

"NURSE, I NEED that thermal blanket, STAT!" she commanded with all the authority she had. The nurse was right there with the blanket and they covered Mark with it and connected it to the biobed computer.

"Now, you two, I want the full and truthful recount of what happened. Keep in mind, I am half Betazoid and can feel a lie miles away," Amethyst continued with her doctor tone of authority.

While she waited for the actual happenings, she, also, waited for her patient to stabilize.

== Well done, Cadet! I enjoyed reading your post and reactions to Mark’s buddies. Great use of the nurse as a Temp NRC. Please know as you post for any Temp NRC, you can post their feelings, thoughts, etc. just as you would your character. You did great with her; just wanting to make sure you knew that. You did a great job with finding the answers to my questions, too. So, with that said, let’s continue to Lesson Four: Participation Points, Rank, Chain of Command

Participation Points and Rank:
Participation points are issued on the first of every month.  This system is in place to allow for the progression of ranks.  Once a character earns a certain number of points, they’ll receive a promotion to the next rank. There are a few caps in place because, let’s face it, over time without the caps the site would be overrun with captains and admirals with nowhere for them to go.

To access the monthly points charts, click on the Red Alert thread on our forums page. Next, click on Monthly Point Tables. Read more about participation points, positions, and rank caps in the Federation Space Constitution.

Participation points are awarded by the Commanding Officer (CO) of a ship, then approved up the chain of command by the Fleet Commander (FC) and finally Commander in Chief (CinC). Everyone earns participation points every month, depending on how active a player you are, and can vary between each CO. If you have any questions about how your CO awards points, please go up your chain of command when you are assigned to a vessel. They will let you know their ship's policy.

Another way for you to earn points is to hold various site positions, such as Department Head (DH), First Officer (FO), Commanding Officer (CO), etc. or through earning medals.  A list of medals and their point values are found on the medals page on the wiki. Medals are typically awarded to players who go above and beyond what is expected on the site.

While we do have a points system in place, it is suggested you don’t play for the sole reason of collecting points or positions.  Your enjoyment will be more if you write and take part in things for the fun of it, and not an attempt to ‘win’.  This community is about writing, growing your character, and being a part of the Fed Space family.

As I mentioned above, there are several ranks you can achieve over time. The abbreviated forms and names are listed below.

Mid – Midshipman
Ens – Ensign
Lt (JG) – Lieutenant (Junior Grade)
Lt – Lieutenant
LCdr – Lieutenant Commander
Cdr – Commander
Capt – Captain
Cmdr – Commodore
RAdm – Rear Admiral
VAdm – Vice Admiral
Adm – Admiral
FAdm – Fleet Admiral

Chain of Command:
The Chain of Command is the order in which you should follow should you require any assistance with an issue or have any questions or concerns in or out of game. There are explanations of each rank provided in our Constitution.

We’ll start from the first person who you would contact and continue from there:
Department Head (DH)
First Officer (FO)
Commanding Officer (CO)
Fleet Commander (FC)
Commander in Chief (CinC)
President

Posting Rates and Leave of Absences (LOA):
Fed Space is an RPG that is made of players from all over the world. Because of this, we ask for your patience with other players, realizing it might take a few days for a reply. As in our Constitution, you should post a minimum of twice a week.

If you find you can’t make that posting rate, email your DH, FO, and CO and request a Leave of Absence (LOA).  In your email, request your need of an LOA, letting them know the reason and when you expect to be back. Doing this can prevent players wondering where players have gone. It can also keep you from being considered Absent Without Leave (AWOL), which will cause your account to be suspended.

More questions for you to answer:
  1. What is the chain of command for the Medical Department on the USS Yeager?
  2. What rank will you be after earning 1,500 points?
  3. What deck would you find the ship’s lounge on the USS Titania?
  4. Have a look at the starships on the site. List your top three ship assignment preferences. Please note this doesn’t mean you will be assigned to one of those. Another ship may need an officer in your chosen department.

After answering our questions, please continue the story, remembering to use proper formatting techniques and requesting GM input. Feel free to continue using the nurse as your temporary NRC as needed. If you have any questions, just ask. Have fun! Smile  ==

== GM Input ==

Mark’s friends watched with pained expression as his body shook on the biobed. The doctor acted swiftly, covering the patient with a thermal blanket and seemed to start working.

Fred started to mumble in response to the doctor’s question. “We weren’t trying to hurt hi…”  Fred’s colleague coughed and shook his head, but Fred kept talking, this time directed towards the other. “We weren’t Sam! Mark looks bad!”  Fred gulped. “Really doc, we didn’t know he’d react this way. He’s just so stiff. He needed to chill out…so we just helped him with swapping his water with…”  Fred looked to the other officer. “With some Romulan Ale.”

==The wiki can be quite confusing.

Answers:
1. The Yeager chain of command is:
Chief Medical Officer Dr. (Lt.) Kal-Geal Beinn
First Officer Cdr Peter Jensen
Commanding Officer Capt. Jennifer Braggins
Regional Surgeon General Capt. Alexandra LaHaye
Commander in Chief FAdm T'Mana
President Alanna Rigalt

2. At 1,500 one would become the officer rank of Ensign

3. The ship's lounge on the Titania is on the 3rd Deck

4. My top three ship preferences are in order as follows:
1. USS Titania. 2. USS Yeager. 3. USS Aquila. ==

Hearing the ensign explain the situation, Amethyst rolled her eyes.  Alcohol poisoning, I should have known, she thought. However, she could feel the fear and remorse oozing from the young men.

"You are both lucky, Romulan Ale is prohibited, highly potent, and now you know why. If Nurse Houlihan agrees, and ONLY IF she agrees, I will list this as alcohol poisoning without mentioning the Ale. IF AND ONLY IF YOU BRING ME THE BOTTLE WITH WHAT IS LEFT, for disposal. Understood?" She turned to the nurse attending to the sick ensign.

Seeing her nurse nod in agreement, Amethyst gave the nurse instructions for continuing orders including hydration and observation. Amethyst started her notes as alcohol poisoning and shook her head wondering when the taste for the forbidden will lose it's luster.

Seeing the ensigns still standing there she barked, "What are we waiting for gentlemen?"

== Well done on your questions and post cadet. The all caps gave me the impression she was mad and not to be toyed with, but remember you can bold your words, too. I enjoyed reading the story. I think it's time to move on to your Final Lesson.

For this lesson, we will not be continuing the story. Instead, you will write a practice introductory post. This post on board your assigned ship is a very important post. It’s the very first impression your new crew will have of your character. The more descriptive you are, the more they can interact with you.

For this assignment, I’d like you to write a post as if it were your very first day reporting to your ship assignment. Choose a ship on our forums and report to the Commanding Officer on the bridge. Make sure to do your research about the ship you choose (who the Commanding Officer is and other details about the ship). Be sure to include a description of your character in the post.

Remember the techniques learned throughout your lessons. I haven't seen a lot of the bold and italics. They’re great ways of sharing what your character is experiencing and feeling.

There is no need to include an NRC in your post.

If you have any questions, ask. Have fun!  Cool ==

Amethyst stood in her temporary quarters onthe ship transporting her to the USS Titania. Her suitcases were packed and ready for transfer. She was looking in a mirror, her long red hair was in place, her teal medical uniform was wrinkle free. She picked up her communicator and fastened it to her clothes. Her green eyes smiled as she heard from the Titania that they were ready to beam her aboard and she was to report to the bridge.

After beaming aboard her new ship, she was informed that her belongings were beamed into her quarters, and they were awaiting her arrival on the bridge. Leaving Transporter Room One, she found the turbolift. She stepped in a announced, "Deck One, bridge."

The turbolift began to move and she became exited to start the adventure called life.  She was finally assigned to a Starfleet ship, one with a fully stocked and awesome sickbay, that every medical doctor would be envious.

The turbolift stopped and the doors opened. She entered the bridge and looked around in awe of the bustling activity there. She looked around and saw a blonde woman with a sensible bob hairstyle, and a captain's uniform standing on the bridge talking to another officer. She approached the captain and waited for acknowledgement.

Once, the captain looked at her she reported, "Mid. Dr. Amethyst Bremner reporting for duty as a medical officer." She stood at attention awaiting orders.

== Thanks for writing your intro post. You completed the assignment with your post, however, I'd like you to rewrite it. The first post you make on your assigned ship is the crew's first impression of your character and your writing. I didn't get to learn a lot from your character as there were no inner thoughts and little use of sensory descriptors. What I mean with that, I encourage you to think about the different senses your cadet is experiencing. What does the ship smell like? What are the colors of the hallway, the bridge, etc.? How does Amethyst feel in the moment?  Are any of the things she's experiencing or feeling remind her of a memory?
'Wow' me and others who are reading the holodeck with your introductory post!  ==

==Hope this is better.==

Amethyst wa beamed aboard the Titania directly to her bedroom. Looking around, she thought this was great conditions for a junior officer. She knew she had 1 hour to report to the Commanding Officer, and then get to the sick bay for her first shift.

After unpacking her belongings, she noticed that there was a bouquet of tulips on her night stand, she inhaled their sweet aroma and thought, Thank you Gran, I needed you with me today.

Straightening out her uniform making sure there are no wrinkles, Amethyst exited her room. The corridor was the standard grey with computer panels intermittently. She looked both ways to see if there was a turbolift in sight. There wasn't. Walking to the panel on the wall, she queried, "Computer, guide me to the turbolift." She noticed a trembling in her voice. She took a deep cleansing breath and followed the directional lights on the wall.

Once in the turbolift, she requested the bridge. While the lift took her to the bridge she opened up her empathy to judge the mood of the ship. There were a normal range of emotions.

The turbolift opened up to the bridge, she took another deep breath, straightened her red ponytail, and ushered her petite frame onto the bridge. Here goes, she reassured herself. Looking around the bridge she saw a rainbow of colors signifying all of the departments it takes to run the bridge. In the center she saw a woman with a short blonde bob hairstyle, wearing a captain's uniform. Slowly, she approached her, not wanting to interrupt.

At first, she quietly tried getting the captain's attention. Nothing was working. Then the captain turned in her direction and she froze at attention, "Mid. Dr. Amethyst Bremner, reporting for duty." Her voice cracked and she felt the heat rise to her cheeks.

I just want to get to sickbay to feel more comfortable, she was screaming inside while waiting for the captain to acknowledge her.

== Congratulations Cadet Bremner, you are hereby promoted to the rank of Midshipman.

To prepare for your assignment, go into your profile and change your rank image to Medical - Midshipman, and your position to Medical Officer.

Your CO or FO will email you to tell you where to report in. Make sure your first post is a special one, as first impressions can go a long way.

We’ll be clearing this holodeck within a week, so if there are posts you would like to save, please do so.

Congratulations again and welcome to Federation Space Midshipman Bremner! ==
