With the speech over and no other VIPs present to make their own, it was time for the party to become a little more relaxed, a little more informal, before it finally wound down. Traditionally this would be time for the Captain to speak to a few people, make sure everyone was happy, before departing and leaving the crew to it; nobody wanted their superior officers around when there was drinking to be done, and Jenny wasn't a big fan of large gatherings either, so it suited her.
She did have one thing that needed doing, however.
Having procured a drink from the bar, Jenny approached Qi and Beinn as they stood next to the replicator array, noticing how the Chief Science Officer and ex-Chief Medical Officer seemed to already be getting along despite not, as far as she knew, having had much opportunity to interact before today. While it was unfortunate that the Child of San-Tarah was no longer her senior Medical Officer, a role he had filled aboard two iterations of the Yeager, he would be invaluable to D'Tor'an and her Security people as he filled the role of liaison and trainer for First Aid and Battlefield Medicine techniques.
Not to mention his more up-to-date knowledge of the Klingon Empire could come in handy one of these days...
Approaching the pair, the diminutive Captain cleared her throat to attract their attention, before pulling a PADD out of the inside pocket of her uniform jacket.
"Forgive me for interrupting, but I won't keep you long. Mister Qi, your knowledge was indispensable to us when dealing with the Lord Franklin, and I know you are disappointed that we had to destroy her to make good our escape. It wouldn't have been my first choice, either, but it is what it is."
Taking a sip of her drink, she continued.
"There is, however, an opportunity close the book on the mystery completely. Put the other historians in their place and tell the real story of the Franklin. On this PADD are the complete computer records of the Franklin, recovered thanks to the Yeager's intelligence-gathering equipment, plus recordings of the interviews Starfleet conducted with the passengers and crew. There is also a publishing agreement with Publications Interstellar, Limited that needs a signature on it. I can't think of a better person to write the final chapters of the Franklin's story than you, if you're up for it?"
