Using the laser scalpel, the main pieces of the armor were cut away fairly easily. A very fine-beamed scalpel and a dexterity that Beka had in her fingers if not her vocabulary helped to start removing the other pieces. A quick survey of them had shown that there were three main locations where the armor was sticking: the Ghe'kha lung, where the largest part was; her stomach on the other side of the body from the lung; and a small but potentially extremely dangerous piece in her spinal column, having perforated the human lung and gone into the bones there.
The Ghe'kha lung wound being at the top of the chest cavity as the patient lay on the table, it was the best place to start. The Klingon organ might be more resilient than the others, but the armor piece in it was more ragged and, combined with the excess of arteries in it compared to a human lung, was contributing most to the internal bleeding. It wasn't easy, and doing it properly ate up more time than anybody really wanted, but the piece of armor was safely removed and they were able to get the wound repaired.
However, she lost a lot of blood in the time it took. Her BP was dropping steadily, and her breathing was getting more ragged. Blood was still trying to fill up her chest cavity from the other wounds.
