"Oh yes please!" she said with a naughty gleam in her eyes. Freckled cheeks harbored a hint of childish joy as she continued, "I loved it. And Dunfermline. You come from a beautiful part of your world." She added coyly, "There was a boy there..." a nervous chuckle wrapped the remainder of her words, "He...was lovely too."
Hally's thoughts dwelt in that time and place for only a second but that was enough to bring back the warmth and special memories. Nothing (well mostly nothing...) had even happened between them. Just a local guy who had befriended her and had given her a new "appreciation" for humans.
"Uhm..." she said, suddenly feeling very shy, "the marm there was very kind. She was always so willing to make one without real alcohol in it once she realized I was allergic. Her synthehol was somehow not replicated as normal, and tasted very authentic...or at least that is what my friends said."
"So, Aeryn, mind to tell me a bit about your home there? Portree? Do you speak any of the local language there? I know your accent is very idyllic, but if you know of any phrases or words unique to your subculture, I'd love to hear it."
