Aeryn had to admit that she was enjoying sharing snippets of her native tongue with Hallowette, who liked the second one as well as the first one. Of course, the redhead had chosen them specifically given their translation, before her new friend spoke about dialects and language, particularly about their complexities and simplicities. Hearing the different dialects associated with the region of Scotland that Aeryn once called home was something that she was used to, without thinking too much about them, but breaking it down with Hallowette gave the CSO a new appreciation for it. Following her train of thought also led to a better understanding, and it appeared as though the two women had a love for both different and similar things.
" I suppose it does, and I never thought of it like that until now. I guess it was just normal for me where I primarily grew up, as yes, we used the UT, but a lot of the time reverted to our natural accent. I agree with you, and if anything, it's given me not only a new appreciation for it but also a better understanding of something we take for granted".
Hallowette then provided a saying, one that came from her father's people, people that Aeryn had grown fond of, thanks to her relationship with Merle. " I like it, then again, I haven't forgotten my love of Bajoran culture as a whole", she began. " Before I came to Artemis, I was involved with and supposed to marry a man named Loren Merle, who was from the Rankantha Province. Unfortunately, I lost him when our ship, the Alexandria, encountered an anomaly that killed a third of its crew. I'm still in contact with his family, as well as the d'ja pagh that he gave me".
It felt right to give her friend some context, even if the story wasn't as happy as sharing information about her Scottish background, but at the same time, she was never ashamed about her past, or who she had lost on the way.
