"I know why she is here though, and I should have known this would happen." Keti paused for a second. "She is here because I messed up pretty bad on the ship, and the Captain didn't like my actions. My first time going on the Bridge, and it couldn't be worse."
Aja spoke up again. "He sends me messages every chance he gets, and because of ships security I usually get several at a time." As she was looking at the darts on the board, Aja laughed a little. "Not very often he can be that distracted, glad to see I still have it." She joked.
Amila's head tilted back as she drank the last of her spiced beer and put the glass back down on the table. "Well, the smart ones should know that if they have a beautiful girlfriend who is willing to surprise them on shore leave then they better give them a little extra attention. Am I right?" Amila said jovially, making the point to entire table.
She had a feeling she knew what Keti was talking about with the Captain. There had been some tension on the Bridge at first, and she recalled both him and Commander Sothrick getting called to the Ready Room over it. Still, that was all very early in their first mission since being transferred from their previous assignment.
"Honestly, Jukish. I think you're fine," Amila said as she lowered her voice a bit. "I wouldn't overthink it. Sothrick used to be your Captain. It was habit for both you. I'm sure the Captain gets that. It seemed to straighten itself out. And you're a good officer, intelligent. They lean on science a lot on Titania. It's a good place to be for us. There are a dozen other officers that could have been brought to the Bridge to help at the end, but Fields had you report back. I think you're fine."
Amila may have been overdoing it on the reassurance, but she knew what it felt like to be insecure in your position. And it was true, after the chain of command situation was sorted, the earlier transgressions seemed to have been sorted. Amila resisted the urge to ask Keti his thoughts on his former Captain. Keir was part of that group too. Sothrick had gone out of his way to give her credit for contributions during the last mission, which she appreciated. Her first meeting with him though, something had seemed off. It was clearly an adjustment for him and his old crew to be absorbed on the Titania they way that things had landed. She'd figured that much out despite not being overly close with any of the new officers just yet.
