It was easy to tell when Beka was concentrating hard - the banter dried up as she focused all her attention on what she was doing instead of doling out sharp-tongued one liners. The redhead worked quickly, all too aware that she was on the clock and she had to get as many of these wounds sealed as possible.
There was a steady plink plink plink as the doctor dropped the extracted pieces of armour into a kidney dish. She may have been one of the younger surgeons on the Artemis’ staff but she’d spent a considerable portion of her life removing external objects from bodies. The process was second nature now. Still, hybrid physiology was a law unto itself, and the amount of major blood vessels into and out of the Ghe’ka lung meant it took longer than Sydesh would have liked to seal it all up.
With the Klingon lung steadily inflating and deflating, Beka allowed herself a brief grin of triumph before she moved on.
“Hey Star! How’s that arm coming?” the redhead asked. “Do you need me?”
