Amila took the darts from Keir and set them aside on the table, as Keir was telling Ameen that it was his turn. She was watching the interaction with interest, when when eyes widened in surprise as she was unsuspectingly called on to take her turn early.
"Nope! Ladies first." Ameen pointed at her and offered a wide grin. "I insist."
Amila grinned back. "You insist?" She repeated teasingly as she stood up from her seat. "I'm pretty sure it's your team's turn, but when the X-O insists, that's like an order isn't it?" She continued her playful tone as she picked up the darts and felt them in her hand.
"Alright, here goes nothing. What number am I trying to get? Three?" Amila took a quick drink of her seltzer and stepped up to the line and eyed the elusive 3 column. She put two of the darts in her left hand, and in her right she held one up ready to aim. Amila took a deep breath and prepared herself to throw and then exhaled letting her shoulder slump. This was going to be a disaster. To save a little face she turned back toward her crewmates and gave a shy laugh, "Okay, for real this time."
Amila turned back around and threw her first dart. It was strange not aiming for the bullseye, and she threw a little too low and to the left, the dart landing outside of the target near the 19. She took the second dart into her right hand, eager to get this part over with it, and threw again. This time she over-compensated too far to the right, and her dart landed squarely in the middle of the largest segment of the 17 column. Amila let out a sigh and shook her head.
"I told you guys I don't know what I'm doing," she called over her shoulder, before throwing the last dart almost carelessly as she had started to give up. The final throw got them what they needed, though. The dart landed just a hair inside the 3 segment, barely to the left of the line separating 3 and 17.
"Wait, I did it!" Amila looked at the board in surprise. "I got one!" Amila marched up to the board and retrieved the darts, and brought them back to the table and passed them off to Keti. "That might be the only point you guys get from me all night, but I'll do my best."
Amila hadn't realized how tense she was when it was her turn, until she walked back to the table and felt herself relax again. She gestured to Ameen with an open palm. "It is most definitely your turn now," she said through her smile. "Don't worry, I made it easy for you."
