Hallowette grinned politely as Aeryn and Mara responded, though the idea of sharing a phaser range with the pair instantly birthed flutters in her abdomen. Mara though gave an answer that the Trill/Bajoran hybrid hadn't expected, expressing that her skills with a small arm were average at best.
"If our boom boom savant over there can shoot one tenth as good a game as she talks, she’s kickin’ my arse up and down the range.” The Bandaran grinned “I got other skills. Ask the Cardies. I left enough of ‘em bleedin’ on their own ships. Sneaky fucks had it comin’.”
"Oh, I'm no savant - Like you said about phasers, I'm average with ship weapons." She gestured with her hands in a mock surrender motion, "Flying though? Absolutely can hold my own. Communications? Talk to me! Even Ops, I'm beginning to feel pretty comfortable with. But ship weapons? I boom boom significantly less efficiently than other aspects of Tactical." She smiled broadly, then sat back into her seat, and sighing, "As for hand phasers and other tactics? My Dad did his best to teach me how to shoot, fight, and think tactically." She quickly, added, glancing at Aeryn and then back to Mara, "Oh, speaking of Cardassians...he was Bajoran Resistance, then served in Starfleet Security." She hesitated, wondering how much to share before venturing on, "Anyway, he taught. I did my best. But, honestly, I'm not really...built for ground combat." She let her smile soften a bit and she absently placed an arm around her lean midsection, "I would have loved to have followed in his footsteps, but I don't really share his physical presence." Her smile increased again as she added, "Or yours."
She listened again as Mara continued speaking about her accent, which of course, Hally found fascinating. She actually agreed with the Chief of security. Sometimes, vulgarity was the quickest way to make one's point.
The freckled woman began to add her own linguistic take on Calleja's point but she moved on too quickly to the matter of Aeryn's choice of beaus.
Hally suddenly felt the sudden heat of awkwardness creep into their threesome, but she couldn't help but look to Aeryn to see just how deftly the senior officer would field this one.
