Both Mara and Hallowette gave compelling reasons why going to the phaser range might not be a good idea, which Aeryn respected because everyone brought something different to the table. The CSO hadn't forgotten the encounter with the Cardassians or how Mara had taken them on despite being injured. That mission had been particularly challenging for everyone and had led to Aeryn making that important yet guilt-free decision to change careers, a decision that she hadn't regretted. Hallowette also shared some information about her Dad, reminding Aeryn of their earlier conversation, before Mara dropped the accent for a short while.
Her friend wasn't wrong either about how a certain four-letter word was sometimes all you needed, and Aeryn had to agree because it had served her well on occasion. However, it seemed as though Mara wasn't done with her teasing, as she brought back the accent to tease Aeryn about Beka. While she had been hopeful that the truce between the two would last, it was clear that the briefing had soured her attempt at diplomacy, and honestly Aeryn wasn't sure any further attempts would work.
The CSO also noticed how Hallowette was looking at her, aware of how awkward it might look considering how Aeryn had not long ago sung Beka's praises, and now she had to figure out a response.
" Mara and Beka have a history," she said as a way of an explanation, before responding to Mara. " Well, all I can say is that I have no complaints ... Beka has certain skills, and I'll leave it at that".
As she said this, Aeryn winked, deciding not to go into too much detail, but hopefully, that would be enough of a hint. Sure they had their moments and not everything was always perfect, but Aeryn wasn't going to besmirch her girlfriend.
