Ameen didn't say anything once they got into the corridor outside of the bar, or as they started walking. The silence was killing her. Normally she didn't have a problem filling silence. Some people probably thought she talked too much. But the energy between them tonight was making her nervous and everything that she thought to say just sounded dumb in her head. Still, as they got closer to her quarters she began to worry that she'd never find out what he meant earlier and was about to just ask him when he finally said something.
"So... um..." He started. "I have been thinking... about us."
Us. What could he mean by us? Amila tried not to panic, or get too excited. She wasn't sure what she was actually feeling right now.
"We've been..." he paused. "I have been enjoying the time I spend with you. A lot. And I want to spend more time with you if you want..."
Amila didn't realize she'd been holding her breath until she let out a sigh of relief as he continued his thoughts. She tried to contain her smile so she didn't appear too eager. Keep your cool, Amila. She took a breath and was working up a response, but Ameen stopped walking, so she turned to face him, and he said it again.
"Amila, I like you and I am asking you out on a date. In case that was not clear."
Amila's smile shined a little brighter as she nodded at Ameen. "I'd like that." She maintained eye contact and with him for a moment and studied his face, wanting to take in the moment.
