The suspense ended as the Yeager’s signal received a response. Mika was unsure what to expect when the viewscreen shifted from their forward view to that of the Wairaran bridge, or at least what she initially assumed it to be.
In reality, it more closely resembled a cockpit rather than a command center. Unlike the Yeager and its Starfleet counterparts, the Wairara design philosophy appeared to differ significantly. Although Mika knew little about them, she could make an educated guess based on the available information. Given that their society revolved around their 'Great Race,' it was likely that their leaders were pilots. If this were the case, she could only imagine how Chertsone might react, potentially exacerbating his already substantial ego.
While contemplating these thoughts, an alert sounded on her console, presumably mirrored at the main science station. The Wairaran vessel had evidently scanned them, and the scan was sufficiently intrusive to trigger automated alerts. Mika considered mentioning this but refrained, recognizing that she had not yet earned sufficient authority. Moreover, interrupting the Captain during a First Contact interaction would be highly inappropriate, particularly for a newly graduated Midshipman.

The communication channel closed just as swiftly as it had opened. Arriving uninvited on another's territory and sustaining damage there did not create a favorable impression.
