Jane felt uncomfortable with the amount of sharing Keir 77 was doing. She had overlooked the use of her first name, but hadn't appreciated it and hoped to simply move on.
Jukish replied while Jane concentrated on finishing her drink. She suddenly looked up when she was addressed...
"Captain, what I am really attempting to say is, at times I know its going to be difficult. I am sure that this difficulty level would help become a better Officer, and sharpen my leadership ability with the right teachers in place it was possible."
The Captain thought for a moment. She was surprised at the amount of forthrightness, it was unusual.
"Yes, well, the greatest skill to cultivate is adaptation, I always think. Everything takes time for all of us."
This sort of group sharing was really not appropriate for the Captain, so she did not intend to add to it, though it had been informative to learn more about her officers.
"Thank you both for sharing those thoughts and information with me.I shall look forward to having one-to-one conversations with you in future and getting to know you better." She stood up. "Now, duty calls and I shall have to leave you. Thank you for the drink and game. Enjoy the rest of shore leave." She gave a departing nod and an amiable smile to both.
