A quick detour to the Marina's holosuite facility solved the swimwear dilemma. Moments later, ready for the water, they were walking towards the boat again, hand-in-hand, lacing their fingers together. Ameen deliberately slowed their pace, savoring the feel of the cooling sand underfoot and Amila's presence beside him as the sunset painted the sky in breathtaking oranges and purples. The gentle lapping of waves was the perfect soundtrack. Everything felt right. Amila practically vibrated with excitement, her energy infectious.
"This feels a little crazy," she breathed as they reached the sleek lines of the boat bobbing gently at the dock. "I can't wait!"
Ameen laughed, a warm, happy sound. "The best kind of crazy," he agreed.
I think this is a good time to take the next step...
Then he turned to face her just before the gangway. He took both her hands, his gaze locking with hers, playful but sincere.
"Seriously though, Amila," he said, his smile softening. "Tonight? With you? It's... amazing. I walked into this date hoping for 'good,' maybe even 'great.' But this?" He gave her hands a gentle squeeze. "This is blowing 'great' right out of the water... pardon the pun."
