== Lieutenant Owen Maguire ==
With the Chief departing for the bridge, Owen, the next highest ranking officer, a title that the Irishman took in his stride, because all that mattered was keeping things ticking over, and being ready to deal with any more emergencies. Even the blare of the alert did little to throw him off edge, or any of the scientists in the lab for that matter, as he took over the console that Miller had been sitting at ever since the first probe had been deployed. Nothing dramatic had happened since most of them had taken a tumble, but Maguire was sure it would become quite the story once the ship left the Nebula. Until then, he took up the mantle of resuming scans, watching the data stream, and being diverted to where it would be needed to be stored and investigated.
Although Owen did grin slightly as a new feed showed up, tying the science complex to Miller's console on the Bridge, giving them a real-time insight into what was going on. It also came with a note from their Chief about the plan of action, which would hopefully improve communication with the probes. Maguire quickly acknowledged receipt of the message, while two Ensigns checked over the probes still waiting to be deployed just to ensure that everything was still ready to go, should they be needed.
" Tell you what, I'm looking forward to a game of cards later. "Wonder if we can persuade the Chief to join us," he said to no one in particular, deciding some small talk wouldn't hurt now that the complex was no longer a makeshift Sickbay.
" After today, I think our invitation might just be accepted," Petra remarked as she finished recalibrating one of the sample collectors, pausing with a test tube in her hand, ready to test a sample.
" You're right, it might, and I'm sure we can sweeten the deal with that bottle of whiskey".
" Okay, teacher's pet, but yes, your ploy might just work".
Petra was joking, of course, and Maguire couldn't help but laugh at his friend before another alert got his attention, stopping their conversation, at least for now, as they both returned to their work.
