The Chief of Security was in a rage. It didn’t bother Rubicon—she felt furious to know that people had been kept in such horrid conditions—but she knew that the best thing for the people who had been in here was to keep herself in check and do her job to the best of her ability. She could vent and cry later. It wouldn’t be the first time she’d come across something as bad as thing. And in fact, this wasn’t even the worst thing she’d seen in her life.
As results began filtering across the small tricorder screen, Rubicon bit her lip. The results were decided not what she was used to, with their incomplete readings and references to the main library database. It would be the results she would get from a standard issue Security tricorder, of course, and not one programmed for Medical functions. What she wouldn’t give to have her old diagnostic toolkit in her hands right now. But that career was behind her and hse had to focus on the here and now, and use the tools that she did have with her to the best of her ability; at least her old career and her new one had that in common.
Rubicon had also specialized in Forensics at the Academy, so at least she felt personally equipped to make informed deductions about the data she was seeing.
“Lieutenant,” Rubicon called for Calleja, as she stood from her crouch. “Looks like they were mostly hauling Cardassians in here, and another species not so common that the tricorder knows.”
She proffered the tricorder towards Calleja so she could see the results. “I’ll get my scans back to the Artemis. The library database might have a better idea of who else they had in here.” A few taps of her device later and the results were sent whipping across the vacuum and landing at consoles aboard the Artemis.
“Most of the blood is older, but there are definitely some newer traces,” she added as she turned back to her scanning, trying to eek every last bit of information out the scene as she could. “Unfortunately there are so many different samples that it’s impossible to say how many people were held here.”
