Well, that's interesting, Jaein thought as he scanned through the console's files. The version numbers were old, showing an update last applied essentially back during the Dominion War, likely meaning he was looking at a system that was of the same vintage. And the last time the console was used...
Oh, he thought. Oh, no...
He got Givens' attention, but then also hit his commbadge. The Captain needed to hear it sooner rather than later. "Omdor to Crawford," he said. "I'm analyzing this Dominion console, and from what I can find it controls a Dominion War-era system defense system. It hasn't been updated since then, so whatever it works with likely has been in place since then. More tellingly, however, the console was last use two hours ago. So whatever it ties into... it's here in the nebula.
"If we're looking at a Dominion installation," he told them both, "here in the nebula? With working defenses and something worthwhile enough for Klingon slavers to use it as a base? Captain, I can only think of a couple of possibilities for that, but none of them are good."
