The Date
#25
Morad watched the spot where Amila had slipped beneath the surface, a low, amused chuckle rumbling in his chest. The starlight danced in his eyes, and a wide, genuine smile spread across his lips.

So, she wants to play hide-and-seek in a starlit Mediterranean cove, does she? After telling me how to secure a second date? This woman... she's an adventure all by herself...

"Duly noted... Amila," he called out softly, letting her first name hang in the cool night air with a warm, deliberate emphasis. The way he said it was a clear acknowledgment of her playful demand. "Consider 'Lieutenant' officially retired for tonight. Especially," he added, his voice dropping a fraction, a hint of playful challenge lacing his tone, "if a second date is indeed on the table. A very compelling offer."

She said she was waiting... waiting to see if I'd find her... Oh, I'll find you, Amila Ra'an. Count on it...

He pushed off from the boat, his own movements now smooth and silent as he cut through the water in the direction she’d headed. He wasn't rushing, enjoying the slight thrill of her impromptu game.

"Hiding from me now, are we?" he continued, his voice a teasing murmur meant to carry just far enough for her to hear if she was listening. "Disappearing under the cover of darkness after laying down such enticing terms? You're making this very interesting."

He paused, treading water for a moment, scanning the dark, shimmering surface with a playful glint in his eyes.

"I seem to recall you being interested in what else this 'crazy night' has in store," he mused, a smirk playing on his lips. "And I have to admit, a starlit game of hide-and-seek with a beautiful woman who just promised the possibility of a second date... that's a rather captivating development."

He began to swim again, a little more purposefully this time, though still with an air of enjoying the chase.

"Don't think you can hide for too long, Amila," he said, his voice a blend of playful confidence and undeniable warmth. "I'm quite determined to find you. And when I do..." He let that thought hang, unfinished, a playful promise in the air. "The night is far from over."
