Mara also agreed with wanting to learn languages from Hallowette, particularly Trill, after revealing how she also liked to turn off her universal translator. The COS also mentioned how she had spent time on Bajor during their last leave, which was something Aeryn had wanted to do but never got around to. That could be something the redhead could rectify the next time they stopped at DS9, but for now, she was keen to learn whatever Hallowette decided to teach them. Although it seemed as though the Middie hadn't been expecting either of them to be so positive about her offer, which Aeryn could understand, at the same time, it was only fair, since she had done the same before Mara had arrived.
" I always enjoy learning new things," Aeryn admitted, as Hallowette readied herself and explained what they would be starting with. " Sounds good to me".
Starting simply was always a good idea, in Aeryn's opinion, reaching up to temporarily disable her UT so she could experience it properly without any interference. The first phrase that Hallowette taught them, and her natural accent, combined with the nature of the words, flowed like music as Aeryn absorbed the information. " Shalora," she repeated, wanting to see how it felt to say it in her native tongue. While it didn't sound quite the same as how Hallowette had said it, that was the beauty of learning, and Aeryn couldn't help but smile before their new friend continued.
With each word and saying that came from Hallowette, Aeryn felt a resonance build within her, specifically with how the meanings spoke directly to her, and how it sounded like poetry. This would be something that she would remember, and hopefully, in time, she could master another language without having to rely on the UT. There was also the cultural aspect of it, and it gave Aeryn a sense of understanding and a need to learn more, just like she had with Bajor.
