Tomer looked up at Jensen with something akin to a superior sneer as the First Officer complained about his chair being occupied. The sneer turned to a frown, then simmering rage as Braggins spoke. At her comment about pilot washouts, though not naming him specifically, Tomer turned an alarming shade of red. His mouth worked but no sounds came out, and veins began to bulge on his forehead as his humiliation grew and festered.
Braggins' dismissal of him was the final straw. He shot out of the chair and stepped in front of Braggins, looming over the petite woman and jabbing a finger at her.

Tomer's tirade was interrupted by a beeping coming from the helm console. The beep coincided with the final seconds of the countdown displayed on the screen. A final beep, longer than the rest, sounded and the countdown timer flashed green.
Already sensors indicated the other ships were moving, the four Wairara ships leaping easily ahead of the Yeager with their souped-up engines. The Os'rusa was also beginning to accelerate, and threatened to leave the Yeager in last place if it did not also start accelerating soon...
