The Date
#28
When he first reached for her, she fell into his arms with ease, her hands finding natural resting places on his back and his chest. His shirtless back and chest. The lack of clothing between them was… distracting. Still, the dancing around their affection for one another, the playful energy melted away as they both finally gave into this one embrace.  As they stood together on the swim platform behind the holographic boat, she noticed everything. She was taking in every detail, from the way he looked into her eyes, to the way his gaze dropped her lips.

His hand was cold as he gently cupped her cheek. She closed her eyes and leaned into the softness of his touch against her face. Her hands were cold too, but heat seemed to radiate from his skin underneath her touch.

His low and gentle voice aroused her from her thoughts. "So, victor, what is the prize for such a clever escape? Or perhaps, the terrible seeker gets a consolation?” She opened her eyes and grinned coyly at his suggestion.

The smile on his lips unmistakable, the softness in his voice when he spoke to her, the way that his hand caressed her face…

Yet she was stricken with the same nervous anticipation she had before their lips first met. Perhaps more so now, as the stakes seemed to be increasing infinitely as the night continued.

“That consolation prize,” she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. She meant to say more, but she stopped short, letting her lips brush against his before she lost her nerve. When she felt Ameen lean softly into her kiss, she kissed back more fervently, losing herself and her hesitations in the moment.

The night air was cool against their still damp skin from swimming. When they finally pulled away from one another, Amila felt herself shiver as the chill finally caught up to her. She admitted sheepishly to Ameen that she was cold and let him lead her back onto the main part of the boat. He took out a couple of large beach towels, first unfolding one and wrapping it around her shoulders, before helping himself to his own. She watched him dry off as she reached for her discarded clothes from the deck and began to dress back over her suit.

Despite the hour, neither seemed quite ready to call the date to an end. “I know we're going to regret this in the morning, but just a few more minutes out here?” Amila asked. Her hand reached out for his, a gesture that had become second nature to them both over the evening.

He took her hand and they settled into the bench seat in back. She leaned against his arm as she gazed up at the simulated stars. She felt content as she let out a happy sigh. “Thank you. For all of this,” she whispered. “This whole evening has been really perfect."
