Jessy’s mood did not improve when Gary brought up the specs of the other “visiting” ship - Cardies. The racist word was mostly out of the vernacular of Starfleet officers, but Security people were known to hold onto nicknames, no matter their meaning or age.
Gary was not happy, either.
Their DH walked in, and Jessy elbowed Gary, nodding her head in Art’s direction.

“All right,” Artie said, stretching her arms up. It was nice to be able to move them without their being the sensation of stretched, burned skin, and of course pain. “While I was playing firefighter, what did I miss?” She purposely did not mention the people they lost, or the injuries she had received. They would have received that all in their readout, and there was no point to reiterating past information.
Art stared at the readout that had two of her officers nearly gaping at. She was silent for what felt like a long time, and then perhaps for a moment after as she tried to find the words. Alien ship, alien ship, really cool-looking alien ship, Cardassian ship, shapeless alien ship…
“What the fuck is that?”
She resisted the urge to tap her commbadge and call up to the Bridge and repeat that sentence, tone and all. Instead, she brought her hand, which was paused midway, out in front of her, pressing buttons on the console. Then she projected the map race up on the big screen, adjusting its dimensions so it filled the entire space.
“Identify all anomalies.” Art spoke quickly. “Give them annotations, and send that up to the Bridge as you mark them. If we work together, we should be able to stay ahead of everything somehow.”
