== NRC Gary, Alpha Shift Leader ==
Gary didn’t flinch when Jessy elbowed him and nodded toward the door. He’d spotted Art before she said anything, tough not to, really. Even in a room full of uniforms and stress, she just had a presence.
“All right,” she said, stretching her arms. “While I was playing firefighter, what did I miss?”
Gary rolled his eyes towards Jessy. Not in a mocking way but to say ‘she's back’ before giving Art a sideways glance, careful not to overload the look with too much of the worry he still carried. She was standing, talking, issuing orders. That counted for something. A lot, actually.
“You mean besides being in the wrong vessel for the race that's about to start” He began, indicating a small timer on the Bridge's main screen feed.
“and a Cardassian ship popping back up on sensors like it forgot it was unwelcome?” he asked Sarcastically.
Then, with a smirk. “Not too much I suppose.”
He looked up at the large screen as Art changed it it's current display and expanded the race map.
“Identify all anomalies.” Art spoke quickly. “Give them annotations, and send that up to the Bridge as you mark them. If we work together, we should be able to stay ahead of everything somehow.”
Her voice was sharp, precise, no-nonsense. That was a good sign.
Gary got to work without delay, eyes flicking between sensor feeds and anomaly overlays, tagging whatever he could identify. Beside him, Jessy settled in at her own console.
“Bridge’ll appreciate this,” he muttered, more to himself than anyone else. “Or at least they’d better.”
Gary spared a glance at the scrolling security feed tucked into the corner of his monitor. It was already populating with logs from Alden’s team.
The kid had held it together.
He didn’t allow himself to smile but the breath he let out, just a small one, released a little of the weight in his chest.
