Ameen finished reading the initial summary of Kestir's dossier on his command chair's display, the PADD Keir had handed him with the VIP quarters report resting on the console beside it. He leaned back, tapping his fingers on the armrest again.
An elderly host, specific tea, don't be early, don't be late, avoid "unexpected phenomenon"... and a confidential note from a Captain Sutch back in '74? This mediator, Kestir, sounds like a handful, and then some. And what was that "delay" the Ambassador got so worked up about? This was definitely more complicated than a simple VIP escort run...
"Keir," He looked up, addressing his First Officer first. "Thank you for this comprehensive report on the VIP quarter preparations," Ameen said, gesturing to the PADD. "Excellent initiative getting everything in order so quickly. It seems our guest has... particular needs."
His gaze shifted to the science station. Amila had voiced concerns that mirrored his own.
Sharp as always...
"Lieutenant Ra'an, your instincts about the dossier are sharp. 'Vague but insistent' sums it up well. I agree, we need to be cautious. Cross-referencing our route to this negotiation site with stellar cartography for any potential trouble spots is a sound plan. Please proceed with that and advise."
"Ensign Powl, your department's readiness is noted." He nodded towards Tactical. "Your initiative in researching Veld and Taveres is commendable. Keep that up; any intel could be crucial."
He then turned his attention to his Chief of Security, Lieutenant Gath. With a VIP this important, and apparently this sensitive, first impressions and proper protocols will matter, whenever she finally arrives.
"Lieutenant Gath," Ameen said, "while we're waiting for more information from Trill Control, let's prepare for our principal's eventual arrival. Given the... emphasis Ambassador Junde placed on her status, I want a small, formal honor guard ready for when she beams aboard. Please coordinate with your team, select appropriate personnel, and make sure they're up to speed on dignitary reception protocols. We need to show the utmost respect. Furthermore," he added, " depending on her condition and preferences once she's aboard, I'm also considering proposing a small, formal dress uniform dinner in her honor. Your department would naturally be involved in the security and protocol for such an event, so keep that in mind as a possibility."
The frailty of Kestir's host was a significant concern. He looked for his CMO.
"Doctor O’Fee," Ameen began, "the dossier for our principal, Kestir, indicates her current Trill host is quite elderly and requires careful handling. Please review the medical section of her file thoroughly and prepare your team for any specific needs she might have upon arrival or during transit. Also," he added, his mind already jumping to contingencies, "a worst-case scenario thought, Doctor... review the crew manifest. Do we have any Trill personnel aboard who are potential prior hosts or who might have symbiotic experience? And what are our capabilities for an emergency... joining, should the unthinkable happen to Kestir's current host? I want to be prepared for every eventuality."
He took a breath. The Trill had cut communications, mentioned a delay. For now, they waited for... something.
Alright, Morad. One step at a time. You've got this...
"Ops," he addressed Petty Officer Molina, "maintain a watch on Trill comm channels. Inform me immediately if Ambassador Junde attempts to re-establish contact or if we receive any further transmissions regarding Kestir or this 'delay'." He looked at the main viewscreen showing Trill. "For now, we maintain standard orbit and await clarification."
== GM-Input: What further information, if any, does the full dossier on Kestir provide beyond the initial summary? And does Ops receive any new communication from Trill? Thanks!
Evie I'm not sure if you are on the bridge or in Sickbay, you can take Ameen's message to either locations.
