T'Lari turned for a moment to watch the diplomat throw a fit worthy of a me'leroa beast back on Vulcan. The tactical officer could only hope that he wouldn't start throwing excrement.
"How dare you?! I am a representative of the Federation Diplomatic Corps! This is my mission, and you and your uniformed lackeys will do as you're told! Now get in contact with the Wairara and tell them to prepare for my arrival!"
One would think that a diplomat would be able to control his temper.
The results were unsurprising. The captain grabbed Tomer's stabbing finger with grace and speed worthy of a Vulcan and made the diplomat understand his error.
"Number one, you are a guest on my ship. Number two, this is my mission. Number three, you have five seconds to get off my Bridge before I have you removed, and I can't guarantee you won't get hurt in the process."
He took the hint, though the anger in his eyes showed that this wasn't over. For her part T'Lari merely noted the interaction and returned her attention to her console.
Braggins began giving the crew orders as the race continued. Chertstone was proving to be an able pilot, if overly informal and undisciplined in the way that so many young officers were.
"T'Lari, if I give the word I want that tractor beam. Keep an eye on the Os'rusa, too; I'd rather win fair and square but if we need to throw something else at them, I'm not against it."
"Aye, Captain," the young half-Vulcan said with a voice that betrayed just the barest bit of eagerness, something she tried to tamp down. It was difficult; this was exciting, and it made her Romulan blood pump.
As she keyed in the tractor beam she checked the scanners for any sign that the Cardassians were trying anything. It wasn't merely likely, it was almost a certainty, and this would be a good time for it. Of course she wasn't opposed to the idea of giving the Os'rusa more than a scratch either after the trouble the Cardassian vessel had caused them the last time. Turnabout, as the humans said, was fair play.
