Robin went over to her replicator and ordered her usual coffee with vanilla cream. As she took as sip her brow wrinkled in confusion. What was taking so long? It was just a blood sample, not calculating a Slipstream jump. She returned to her desk. The computer still showed a [PROCESSING] symbol. The CMO began to wonder if she needed to call Engineering when a status bar appeared on the screen.
[Blood samples show anomalous genetic profiles. Analyzing.]
That was it. Nothing about what they were. She tapped her combadge.
"Mayfair to Calleja. Sorry for the delay. The computer is showing some weirdness about the sample... samples, plural. It's still analyzing, but whatever this is isn't normal and seems to be giving the system a headache while it figures it out. I'll contact you and the Captain as soon as I get the results.."
Nothing to do but wait.
And wait she did, growing increasingly frustrated. Finally, after five minutes the system beeped and the annoyingly pleasant voice of the computer spoke.
[Analysis complete.]
Robin keyed it up and started scrolling, her enhanced reading speed and memory allowing her to absorb the information at an incredible rate. It wasn't what she expected at all.
Clones?
She tapped her combadge. Mara had requested privacy, so Robin decided that she'd better make sure that the information only got to the two of them. She tapped her badge again.
"Mayfair to Crawford and Calleja. I have information about the prisoner blood samples requested by Calleja. Not sure if you want anyone else to hear this. If you need to move someplace private let me know."
She waited for their responses, and once she'd heard back from the two she gave her report.
"There are thirteen blood samples, not one. Five Cardassians, eight Vorta. All of them are clones, not just the Vorta, which is why the computer was having problems figuring things out. Different ages, but otherwise the same."
That's almost an entire Vorta line, but why would anyone be cloning Cardassians?
She made a decision. Enough of this sitting on her butt. She needed to be over there. This was seriously screwy. "Captain, request permission to beam to the freighter. I'd like to take a medical tricorder and genetic scanner and see if there's anything else I can figure out."
