As Art stared at the screen, she became more on edge. She ignored the muttering of her officers; angry uttering had been psychologically proven to be effective in helping a person’s mood and focus. On another monitor, reports were scrolling in, and the CSO could barely spare a glance at them. Poor Alden was all but forgotten, and the Chief’s mind was focused on the racetrack laid on in front of her.
A comet that -judging by the timestamp- the Bridge had identified a while ago was now hyper-charged. Artie’s eyes narrowed at that, as she knew her own limitations, and could not hack the science as to why the star had charged the comet. Something-something gravimetric pull, maybe? The computer’s blurb told her that the particles would cause a hazard to ships’ engines, specifically.
After the comet came the storm, which is what actually worried her. Plasma storms were very dangerous, neutronic storms were dangerous to both ship and crew. “Flag that one,” she said, poking Gary, and then watched as he sent the message. They were already ‘rounding the corner’ as it were, and the last thing she wanted was to be caught off guard by a giant storm that shedded radiolytic isotopes.
“What’s our shield strength?” She barked out, to no one in particular.
