Upon accessing Kestir’s full biography, it would become apparent that she lived for her work. The ‘family’ section listed no children, both of the hosts’ parents were long since deceased, there were no siblings to speak of, and no mention of a spouse.
The host’s name was almost a footnote; Aed’na Tlapo had been studying diplomacy since age 16, and was joined to Kestir at age 25. Since the Joining, the individual had chosen to go by simply the symbiont’s name, with a note from the individual that the spirit of the symbiont was quite strong. The name also had already massed quite the reputation, and the person formerly known as Aed’na immediately started hosting large-scale negotiations.
As the mediator jet-setted across the galaxy, deals large and small were made between Klingon colonies, Federation groups, and even the Ferengi. The full profile of this Trill mainly boasted about her bargaining techniques and attitudes, the more detailed of the bureaucracy outlining her wins and slight losses. It appeared that she was highly respected across many peoples, her hard work and dedication keeping her in high demand.
The personality of the person now known as Kestir was described by most as sweet but tough. As she grew older, her palette changed, and she now preferred soft, bland food, which was easy to replicate. Her one specificity, as noted by Captain Sutch, was the tea, and the suggestion of a step-stool in order to climb into bed. Her frame may have shrunk, but her spark had not, and her presence continued to be in high demand all across the Alpha Quadrant.
No hobbies were listed, but a music preference was: light piano music, a sub-genre that could be described by 20th-Century Humans as “elevator music”. On occasion, she would listen to the music generated by the specific people she was on her way to see, and once commented that in order to fully understand one side’s view of an issue, one had to completely understand their culture.
The planets Veld and Taveres were occupied by roughly 500,000 people each. Mostly made up of Humans, Vulcans, Betazoids and a few communities of Bajorans, the planets’ leadership’s notes on the other planet were that the other planet was full of stubborn people. Ships from both planets were relatively small, the system had mostly transport vessels traveling between the two planets, and slightly larger transports for going outside the system. Veld was slightly more industrial, and Taveres was slightly more agrarian, and this made for a perfect trade between them. Unfortunately, they had also never quite agreed with each other, and relationships had broken down in recent decades, finally coming to a head a few years ago. Both planets now agreed on one thing: they needed Kestir to help them.
The negotiation site is set to be on either planet; that had not yet been decided, and had been left up to Kestir. The planets were not too far away, and if the Zephyr pushed her engines again, they could make it in a cool few days. However, Kestir had requested a travel preparation time of at least two weeks, and the planets had graciously granted her three, and so that was how long the journey was supposed to last. There were no dangers on the road, though there was a sun in an unoccupied system that a science team may be interested in observing a decade down the line, as it had begun to go nova.
Trill stayed silent. There of course was chatter among the regular lines of communication, but direct conversation with this Federation starship had completely stopped. Main orbital control told them to maintain orbit, and wait. Beyond that, their instructions were indeed sparse.
