Amila listened nervously to Ameen talk to the Chief Medical Officer. She had several concerns about the Commander's proposed plan and Dr. O'Fee only touched on some of them. The science officer was not an expert in Trill culture by far, but she new that the Trill Symbiote Commission valued secrecy and control over symbiote care and selection over the joining process. It was only in fairly recent years that they'd even admitted to the Federation that some of their citizens were joined, and even then it had been out of necessity, not choice. She worried that if they knew that the Zephyr was making these types of preparations that they likely would terminate the Zephyr's involvement.
She almost said something. Almost. If it had been a senior staff meeting behind closed doors she would have spoken up without hesitation. What held her back - only just barely - was the fact that this was the Commander's Bridge, and there junior officers present. She did not want anything to be interpreted as crossing the commanding officer or undermining his authority.
As Dr. O'Fee was leaving the Bridge, Amila took the break in conversation as an opportunity to address the helm officer. "Lieutenant Krandell, I'm sharing our most recent stellar cartography data to you. There's a star in a nearby system that has started to go supernova. We'll probably want to steer clear of that for now. I don't have anything else showing of concern, but I did send a message out to any vessels that may have been in the region recently to send us any unofficial data or charting they may have done. Just to be safe."
Amila looked over the command center of the Bridge where Keir and Ameen sat next to one another. There were many things that weren't sitting quite right with her, but she was on the Bridge as a science officer, not a mission advisor, and there wasn't anything for Science to report. She weighed the pros and cons of speaking up, but since she didn't have anything that would be immediately useful she elected not to say anything and turned back to her station.

Isabel's shoulders slumped as she monitored the communication lines on Trill. She had nothing to report. Clearly there were no issues with their communication systems, as there was plenty of chatter on the planet, but no one from the Ambassador's office had attempted to reengage them in communication.
