Assuming everyone else who he had asked for was present, Peter looks around at the team.
"Alright, the Captain wants to find out just what in the name of all of Montgomery Scott's whiskey bottles happened here", he said, referring to the accident, "To make sure it doesn't happen again, and to make sure it wasn't sabotage.
And frankly so do I", he went on, then looked at Bowman and Elliot:
"That's where you two come in", he said. "I will admit that I won't be much help in figuring it out based on what I remember from the few basic engineering classes I took at the Academy, but leadership is not about doing everything yourself. It is about utilizing your peoples' strengths" he smiled, taking the opportunity to impart some wisdom to the young officers, Bowman especially. "If you need specialized equipment, tell me, and I'll move whatever I need to move to try to get it for you. Just give me the answer, please", he finished, giving Elliot a firm but encouraging pat on the shoulder.
Then he looked at Ellis and smiled geuniely again:
"And your job, Doctor, is to make sure we're all still alive and likely to remain so once we leave this place again. I can imagine that the environment inside could be a bit healthier", he suggested with a deliberate understatement. "So...give us a heads up if things start getting dicey. And if it becomes downright dangerous, tell me."
He didn't outright say that he would pull the plug.
