"Ensign Powl, your intel gathering on the two planets will be vital for this. Please coordinate with Lieutenant Ra'an's team."
Indeed, the travel time and the potential for interacting with potential delays is a direct correlation between other potential scientific anomaly, astrometric challenges, or even a prospective interaction with another ship.
"Alright everyone, you have your assignments. Let's use this waiting period productively. At the same time," he added, "we don't know how long we'll be holding this position. It's important the duty shifts remain fresh. Commander Keir, please coordinate a rotation for bridge personnel to take brief breaks from their stations. I want everyone on watch to remain sharp."
Torok stood for a moment to acknowledge his orders, but also to find Lieutenant Ra'an quickly. Getting started on the calculations needed to make the trip amicably AND following the lengthy list of demands from the dossier in tandem with the needs of the aging ship. The Zephyr was performing well, and may be considered better than should be expected given the age of the ship and its systems. However, for some reason the crew had managed to settle very quickly and adapt with great alacrity to the older LCARS and the relatively outdated technology. Some of it would have required some remedial research for operational purposes, but whatever may have been required for their respective role, the crew seemed to have met that demand and became an expert in a very miniscule amount of time.
Torok held what may be considered a cheat code for position. Given his age and previous time with Star Fleet, he had already worked on this system or very similar to it. The Copernicus certainly came to mind. Although a great deal of the direct memories had been lost to the Krynar interrogation, there was a great deal of muscle memory that kicked in and there was a hefty amount of familiarity with the maturing ship.
Before he could stand and find Ra'an, she was already at his station as he stood.
"Ensign Powl, when we get further along in these holodeck programs, I wouldn't mind some insight from you if you think you'd be able to lend yourself to the project," Amila started. "For these programs to be meaningful, there will be a need to interact with realistic characters from each of the planets. I noticed they both have Vulcan populations. I could use some critical eyes on the people that the computer develops for the programs if you think that might be something you could assist with."
Powl nodded, "Certainly, I have also researched the potential path that Lt. Krandall would be using for the journey. There does seem to be no potential interaction with another vessel along the way. However, given the relatively careful pace that we will be taking, that can change at any time. I have sent you the information."
