" Aye, Commander," came the response as Aeryn digested the specific instructions that had been given to science. Launching the probes would only take seconds, and as for keeping a close eye on them, well, Aeryn knew that between her, Lucy, and tactical, they wouldn't let them be exposed to potential enemy sources. The last thing the CSO wanted was for them to walk into a trap or end up in some battle with whoever was responsible for what had been found on the freighter. " Probes are launched," she said after a couple of minutes, overseeing them on the monitor before the sound of the bridge doors swishing open caught her attention. Mara appeared along with the telltale signs of what she had endured over on the Q'oh, the reason for her friend's visit apparent as she and Hally coordinated the destruction of the Q'oh.
No doubt it would be quite the story to retell at their next meet-up, as the CSO allowed herself a moment to watch the freighter meet its fiery end before returning to her work. Emotionless would be the best way to describe how she felt seeing the Q'oh shrink into nothingness, knowing that the rest of the puzzle awaited them along the trail it had taken. With that in mind, Aeryn continued monitoring the probes as the ship got underway, following their path easily despite a dicey moment before departure. The probes soon came to a halt at a small planetary system right in the heart of the nebula, which Aeryn didn't expect to see. Her inner scientist was excited at such a discovery, especially about how a single world was orbiting a white dwarf. Something that shouldn't have happened, but there it was for them to see as Hally addressed the FO before looking at Aeryn for confirmation regarding the planet.
"That's what it looks like: The probes have been able to identify that it's a small rocky world, with some open water sources scattered across the surface and home to small oases of life. Further still, there appears to be a small colony on one of those oases, with several lifesigns detected".
Hally was also correct about the active weapon platforms orbiting the planet, so whoever lived there was prepared to deal with anyone who happened to pass by. The kind of welcome that was expected, considering what they had found so far, so the CSO wasn't surprised by this particular finding. As for the lifesigns, she could only imagine who they belonged to, but a closer inspection would have to be done with caution, and it was also dependent on how the FO and Captain Crawford would want to proceed.
" The probes are holding position".
