“Tenvadya shêlu miravalas, ebrhyll emena tra,” Hallowette said as she raised the glass, speaking again in Trill. Her boyish features demurring slightly as she translated the words, “To the experiences we share, shining from amongst the many stars - may life bind us always in friendship.”
“That too,” Mara murmured with a faint grin.
The newbie had a drink and then swiftly made another decision.
"Ok, you play. I sing. Cmon!" she said to Robin, then reached a hand towards Aeryn, "You're coming too Red." she said with a sly smile, before sweeping her gaze across the group, "Hells, let's all just go." She didn't hesitate as she began moving towards the stage, addressing the vulcan with the lute, "We've got next!" She then turned towards the Security chief, "Mara, you pick the song!"
“Go on then, I’m game,” Aeryn said as she got up.
Calleja’s legs tensed to hoist herself out of her chair, and then just as quickly she let herself sink back again. She looked at the stage, her vision focusing on the mic stand, and then she looked away.
I can’t do it.
The mental admission shocked her.
I tried it at Ju’s party and I fuckin’ blew it. Got in my own way and got out under cover of everyone doin’ horse moves. Yeah, I can sing. With no-one watchin’ I can blow the fuckin’ doors off my quarters. But in front of people? I sounded like a strangled cat. I’m not ready to fuck it up again.
“You all go,” Mara said. “I’m gonna sit this one out, but I’m here for immoral support,” she added. The warm smile on her lips didn’t quite make it as far as her eyes as she reached for the glass.
