Hallowette turned towards Robin. "Ok, you play. I sing. Cmon! You're coming too Red. Hells, let's all just go." The young officer didn't hesitate as she began moving towards the stage, addressing the vulcan with the lute, "We've got next!" She then turned towards the Security chief, "Mara, you pick the song!"
Are we sure there was no alcohol in those drinks?
"Go on then, I'm game," Aeryn responded.
Mara got up to sing... partially, but then sat back down again. "You all go," the Security Chief said. "I’m gonna sit this one out, but I’m here for immoral support." She smiled, but there was an element of force to it.
Robin gave her friend a concerned smile of support but decided not to push. It wasn't helpful to try to get people to perform when they didn't feel ready. Music came as naturally to Robin as breathing (even if it had been part of her enhancements and not due to her decidedly non-musical family) and certainly others didn't feel the same way. It was too bad, because she really wanted to hear Mara and this was about the most non-judgmental place on the entire ship. But she decided that she'd talk to the Bandaran later.
"All right then. What's the song? I've got one if no one else does, an old classic." She played the first few parts of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin''" before she stopped, waiting to see if anyone else had a different song in mind. If anything it was an old karaoke classic even in the 25th century, and there was a terminal nearby that could be used to show the lyrics if anyone didn't know them. Maybe it would even convince Mara to join in.
