==Assume that the ship is at Yellow Alert==
The Artemis had powerful sensors, and was able to generally get excellent information. The nebula still cut that some, but they were close enough to the planet that that was minimized.
Around the planet hung several defense platforms, all of Dominion design. Three were visible on this side of the planet, and Hallowette's tactical training led her to assume there were likely two more on the far side to complete the defenses. While powerful, they weren't individually overwhelming - Artemis could likely successfully take on one of them, possibly two, but the entire array would definitely overwhelm the Vesta-class ship, between the polaron beams and the high-yield torpedoes each one was armed with. As she watched the scanners, a small B'rel-class bird of prey came around the planet in a standard orbit. The obsolete ship was favored by pirates and smugglers, anyone who favored attacking unarmed opponents and running from everyone else. While there didn't appear to be anyone else nearby, it would take some action to determine that: either dispatching the probes to the far side of the planet and risking detection, or waiting to see if anything else comes out from behind the planet. While standard orbital speeds would bring anything behind the planet into view within an hour, something that might be in a stationary orbit might not be revealed for most of a day.
On the planet, the lone inhabited location showed a mix of Klingons, Cardassians, and Vorta. Numbers were still indeterminate, but as Artemis got closer they were able to distinguish a little more. The location was organized more like a prison camp than a standard colony, though the buildings seem to not have started life that way. Most of the Cardassians and Vorta were congregated in a single location, with single-digits worth of Klingons among and surrounding them. There was what appeared to be a barracks area nearby, with numerous Klingons present, and then a third location that had a higher power draw and several Vorta and Cardassians along with an equal number of Klingons.
