It was infuriating. They were dead in space. Thankfully not actually dead, but as far as the race went. It was game over. If it weren't for the static discharge preventing it, Flint would have thumped the console in frustration.
Then it stopped.
Power suddenly restored. Sensors came back online. Shields reactivated and most importantly, the impulse drive returned to life.
He didn't think. He he often didn't. The ship had slowed by several thousand kilometres per hour while they'd coasted. He slammed his hand into the control interface pushing the impulse drive back into full power mode. He could feel the force of the acceleration as he was momentarily pushed back into his seat. This was in Flint's focused world, happiness.
That happiness however was seconds later marred as she realised that the Os'rusa was somehow still with them.
Had they just followed the Yeager up and away from the anomaly, or had they known it was there and pulled up earlier? They were only a few thousand klik's behind them. Who knew what they could have been doing back there while the Yeager was blind.
Flint just remained focused on his target ahead, the apparently only remaining Wairaran.
Ten thousand kilometres... Maybe, just maybe. This race was now in the bag.
