Qi exhaled sharply as his sensor displays finally returned to life. Without access to the ship’s instruments, he felt helpless and constrained. Now that they were back, he was in overdrive, taking in data like a drowning person would swallow down gulps of air as he clawed his way up to the water’s surface.
“I’ve lost sight of three Wairara ships. Scanning for evidence of wreckage now. If we detect any life signs, I recommend that we beam them immediately to sickbay, though we may need to lower our shields in order to do so.” Qi said, turning the holographic dial on his console to access different sensor grids around the ship.
Even as he scanned for survivors from the other Wairara ships, he couldn’t afford to lose sight of what was ahead. They couldn’t afford to be caught off guard a second time, not when they were so close to taking the lead. He sent out a wide-band scanning pulse, searching for the next trick that this racetrack had waiting for them.
