Fortunately, with her caution in hand, Hallowette was able to shift her scans higher up into the EM and subspace bands, past where the Dominion War-era sensors would be able to detect them, even if only just past those lines. This did cut down on some of the reliability of those scans, but it was definitely enough for quite a bit of information.
The captain was right to be curious about their maintenance. While the systems themselves appeared to be working within tolerances, their munitions stocks were visibly depleted. The three visible platforms only had about 20 torpedoes per platform, give or take - well below five percent of their normal complement. However, their polaron beam emitters were reading as still quite viable and ready for action.
For taking the Artemis into the system, this was good news - it would still be a serious test, but she could probably hold out long enough to destroy one platform and open a gap, though it would be difficult. For a runabout... even the depleted armament would be enough to destroy a runabout quickly, and there didn't appear to be any significant gaps in the sensor coverage that would allow one to slip in completely unseen. The IFF code would be not just a good thing to have, but completely vital for the runabouts. Fortunately, there was no evidence of a second enemy ship in the vicinity, so it would be child's play with the nebula's interference for a runabout or two to avoid that ship's scans.
