Channeling energy from weapons would boost engine power, but only minimally. At this point, they were approaching maximum safe rated velocity for in-system travel; any faster and relativity would have something to say about their travel, and with a temporal rift nearby, that would not be wise.
However, the closer to the rift they came, the weirder things became. The Yeager jolted, hard, throwing everyone to the floor. When they returned to their seats, the Bridge had changed; Braggins and T'Lari would recognise it as the former Yeager's Bridge, when it had been reasonably new. The officers manning the various stations were wearing the black-and-grey uniforms of the 2370s, and carrying sidearms from that era.
None of the officers looked familiar to each other, or to themselves; Braggins had taken the appearance of an Andorian zhen, T'Lari was a freckled young human with red hair, Chertstone a slim Rigelian, and Qi now a wiry Vulcan with a neat goatee.
On the viewscreen, and on the sensor screens, an armada of over twelve hundred ships of Dominion and Cardassian make were engaged in savage close-quarters fighting with roughly half that number of Federation ships. Leading the charge was the USS Defiant, the original, flanked by two Miranda-class vessels; the Sitak and the Majestic. Both evaporated under enemy fire, leaving the Defiant alone.
Intruder alarms were going off all over the ship as the Yeager rocked again; a new sensor contact appeared behind them. Galor-class. ID'ed as the Os'rusa. It was flanked by two Jem'Hadar attack craft, swooping in for the kill like birds of prey.
