Hally couldn't dispute that Mara's reluctance was mildly disappointing, but she also understood that performing, or even pretending to, especially in public could be anxiety inducing in some species.
For Bajorans, and to a lesser extent, Trill, performing wasn't particularly psychologically taxing. Sure, there were some among both species who were more shy than others, but in general, human's were much more likely to suffer from stage fright than others.
Not that she could imagine Mara being afraid of anything.
Still, Hallowette had to actively repress the urge to reach for the security chief and urge her to come with, so it was fortuitous for her that both Robin and Aeryn had reacted more appropriately than she had initially wanted to.
The others though stepped upon the stage and Robin began to play something on the piano. Hally took a moment to admire the medical officers skill with the keyed instrument, though she wasn't surprised. Robin was a natural at everything she tried. Hally smiled broadly at the pair and even turned the joy towards Mara, just to let her know she still considered her part of things, even if she had declined joining the stage, and she nodded at Aeryn as she heard the song.
"Uhm, I think I know it?" Her roommate at the academy had been a humanophile, and though Caitian, LOVED anything from Earth - in fact the only thing they loved as much as humans was music, so over the almost 5 years she spent in San Francisco, she had heard A LOT of human tunes and anthems. The song that Robin played seemed familiar to her, even if the arrangement was slightly lost on her.
"It's ok though, I'll keep up!" she said optimistically, her skinny boyish frame bouncing as she hopped excitedly on her feet. She turned towards the monitor and took a steadying breath. "Ok Robin, take it away!"
