"No, it definitely isn't," Samira said, "few things actually are simple...my tribe elder used to say that there are different ways to define simple, in ways that make it so it's technically not simple."
Samira began thinking. Even with checking computer files, she was surprised at finding there were ways of removing impurities from dilithium. Particularly with disrupting the crystal's structure with certain resonant frequencies, although another option would be to introduce another substance so as to bond the rianite and render it inert.
Thinking over options of how to determine it, Samira realized what had to be the best means to do it. As such, she stood up and came over to the Captain and spoke in a low voice, just in case he was still on comms.
"Captain?" she said. "I think I may have a way to stabilize the rianite-affected dilithium. Maybe two. I need to determine to make sure, but in order to do that, I need a sample of it. Either a sample has to be transported to my lab so I can work on it...or I transport down there to get a sample. The latter seems likely, I'm just not sure how well rianite will react to transporters..."
