Lucy recognised the piano intro. It was missing the bass accompaniment, but she knew the song well. Growing up her dad’s taste in music was yet another thing that had written itself into her memory. There had been a few times when a group at college or the academy would rent a karaoke box. She had fun memories of belting out tracks by Shania Twain, Chappell Roan, The Veronicas, and others.
Aeryn had managed to convince Hally to give karaoke a go. Mara seemed to prefer to support from the audience. Lucy wondered what song might be Maria's jam, but not everyone was game to sing in front of the Officer’s Lounge. Lucy was up for giving it a song or two before seeing if Mara could be convinced,
“Wouldn’t be my first choice from their back catalog, but I do like it.”
Lucy wandered up onto the stage and stood to the other side of Hally. It’d fun. At least the words would be there if she forgot her lines. She was relatively okay with stuff from the mid 20th to some from the 21st, as long as it gelled with her tastes. Some songs weren’t exactly for all ears.
“Who wants to suggest the next song?”
