To say things had taken a turn for the surreal was something of an understatement. The Yeager had regained power and was back in the race, except it seemed like they weren't currently in a race any more. Jenny's eyes quickly scanned the sensor displays and the orders coming in from the fleet command ships, and her eyes narrowed; they were in the midst of Operation Return, the battle to retake Deep Space Nine. Her own suddenly-blue hands told her all she needed to know; they were either witnessing the battle through the eyes of the crew, in her case Captain zh'Alla, or were somehow active participants in the battle.
“Attempting a Delta-4 followed by a Delta-2...”
The officer at helm looked unfamiliar, but the way they spoke and acted without waiting for authorisation was definitely Chertstone. Likewise the Vulcan at Science, another unfamiliar face, responded to the situation in a very Qi-like manner.
“We should still be charged with chroniton particles from the anomaly on the race track. If we pass through the wormhole, we might be able to snap back to our proper spacetime position.”
"Let's focus on surviving the next ten minutes, first. We don't have any Dominion War veterans aboard, so we're seeing something from the Yeager's own memory. We don't know what's going on; we may only need to witness events, or we may need to ensure they happen."
The contact blip indicating the Os'rusa and her Jem'Hadar wingmen glowed red on the tactical display. Jenny recalled that the Yeager and the Os'rusa had encountered each other during Operation Return, and the plucky Frankenship had disabled the proud warship, though not without cost - the damage the Yeager had sustained had been severe enough that she'd not been able to complete the journey to Deep Space Nine until many hours after the Dominion fleet had broken and fled to Cardassian territory.
If we're here as observers, we'll see David triumph over Goliath. If we're here to act, maybe we can alter the past a little...
"Tactical, lock aft weapons on the Jem'Hadar fighters. Full torpedo spread. We can't manoeuvre with them so let's clip their wings before we tangle with the Os'rusa."
