Lucy understood the Captain’s response. They would need those probes to track their way out of the nebula. Tactical had the tracking data that got the Artemis from the last buoy to where the qoH had set off from last, but if the planet was more than the crew could handle they’d need an exit plan.
Lucy would need the tracking software from the platforms to know if her theory would have worked. It would have to be the difference between the speed of a torpedo and the speed of an asteroid or some other item. Micrometeors were an issue, but shields dealt with that.
Whatever the result would have been Lucy moved to watching the outer perimeter of the Artemis' sensors away from the planet. Somebody hopefully had a better plan. It was likely that the Cardassians who knew about the planet were either dead or significantly retired and not too concerned about some relic from the Dominion War.
Cloning was a weird application of medical science. There was the question of whether the clone was the exact same person or a new being that had memories from the individual they were cloned from. Experiences would differ over time. The results never seemed to be thoroughly consistent. One less former Dominion cloning facility sounded like a good idea. Getting at it was the trick.
