"Monitor any of the other fractions, if anyone has noticed this beam out of Luraim I want to know about it as soon as possible, I don't want to make the Aquila or the away team a target." The request that the Captain made seemed like it was going to be easy, the reality of the situation was it was anything but easy. With any major crime organization there were layers of communication, the trick was identifying the bridge between the layers.

The only thing that was certain was they wouldn't be using official channels, they would be using modes of communication hidden from the rest of the population. They were not going to get anything more than low level chatter to start, they might pick up ,ore later. 

As he was looking for a communication network that was used by a small population, the same network would be used in many parts of the world all leading to one part. All networks of communication would have a centralized hub, that information would be sent to the main source. Even with that in place he would need to know how they talk, after establishing this the chatter would be easier to find. It still wasn't going to be easy, just easier.
